New Landowner Coalition in Cambria County, PA Gets Started Feb 2

|

A new landowner coalition, The Loretto Landowners Group, is forming in Cambria County, PA on February 2. Their hope is to negotiate a lease with gas companies looking to drill in the Marcellus Shale.

A meeting of the group will be held…in Loretto. Organizers are urging attendance by any landowner over a broad geographical area interested in leasing to a driller.

“We figured out pretty quickly that we’re going to have to unite to negotiate a better deal in order to protect the lease holders and the environment,” said Lee Wyland, a founding member of the Loretto Landowners Group.

The invitation to join is open to property owners in the townships of Allegheny, Munster, Gallitzin, Clearfield, East Carroll, Cresson and Cambria, said Wyland, an Allegheny Township resident.

To date, the group, which has been studying the Marcellus Shale issue since 2008, represents hundreds of property owners owning about 30,000 acres of land in the central part of the county, Wyland said.*
