Mt Airy PA City Council Sues DRBC to Prevent Fracking

| | | |

Mt. Airy City Council voted on Oct. 13 to sue the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) to prevent the Commission from allowing hydraulic fracturing to move forward in Mt. Airy.

The resolution that was unanimously passed asked “that no drilling of Marcellus Shale take place until a full environmental analysis is completed.”

The drilling of the shale is at the heart of the fracking issue. Supporters of the resolution have cited environmental and health concerns associated with the natural gas drilling, which some have said would be an important economic driving force in certain parts of Pennsylvania.*
