Butler County Adopts New PA Impact Fee Ordinance in 2 Days

| | |

Butler County, PA commissioners have already voted to adopt an ordinance to collect the newly created impact fee, just two days after the new law was enacted:

Two days after Gov. Tom Corbett signed into law a bill regulating the Marcellus shale natural gas industry, Butler County Commissioners voted Wednesday to create an ordinance that would allow the county to collect millions from an impact fee included in the legislation.

Based on the 93 natural gas wells drilled into the Marcellus shale beneath Butler County, the fee would generate about $4.7 million, according to a Tribune-Review News Service analysis. The state’s 40 percent share would be about $1.8 million. The county would retain $1 million with nearly $1.8 million to be distributed to the county’s 58 municipalities.*
