Notice is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of East Fairfield Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, intends to consider and enact an ordinance to establish weight limits for Township roads and to prohibit use of the Township roads by overweight vehicles at its regular meeting on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 6760 Franklin Pike, Cochranton beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The title of the ordinance is: An Ordinance of East Fairfield Township, Establishing Weight Limits for Certain Township Roads and Prohibiting the Use of Such Roads by Overweight Vehicles, and Providing Penalties for Violations. A summary follows: The ordinance is a weight limit ordinance restricting use of certain Township roads under authority of the PA Vehicle Code (Sections 1 and 2). Definitions are in Section 3. Section 4 establishes 10 ton weight limits for the following roads: Wayland, Bell Hill, Powell, Kantz, Kebort, Griffen, Creveling, Schreck, McCracken, Williamson, Tamarack, Harvey, Hudson, North Hart, Stainbrook and Sheffer. Section 5 prohibits use of these roads by overweight vehicles. Section 6 exempts certain local traffic as defined in the PennDOT regulations except vehicles in the oil and gas and logging businesses. Section 7 allows for issuance of permits for overweight vehicle use upon compliance with requirements including an agreement to repair damaged roads. Section 8 sets forth requirements for a permit. Section 9 provides for enforcement under the PA Vehicle Code. Section 10 sets penalties for violation at $75 plus additional sums for overweight vehicles. The Ordinance and the weight limits and restrictions on use by overweight vehicles shall be effective 5 days after enactment.
