Important New Shale Energy Resource Launches: NaturalGasIntel.com

| | |

As some MDN readers may know, in addition to writing and publishing Marcellus Drilling News each weekday and writing/editing the Marcellus and Utica Shale Databook, MDN editor Jim Willis also consults for Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI). You may recognize the NGI name–they’re the publishers of the fabulous Shale Daily newsletter–the first and still the only daily publication dedicated to news coverage from all North American shale plays. Jim works with the fine folks at NGI to help with marketing Shale Daily and other NGI publications and products (like a really cool shale/pipeline wall map). One of the projects Jim has had a small hand in is the design and launch of the NaturalGasIntel.com website.

NaturalGasIntel.com is an incredibly important new resource for those interested in the shale energy industry. It incorporates all of the great content from Shale Daily PLUS content from NGI’s other publications PLUS brand new features like shale basin resource pages–individual pages dedicated to each of the major (and many of the minor) commercial shale plays in North America. MDN will tell you more about how you can leverage these new features in the coming weeks. For now, we include the NGI press release announcing the new site (read it below) and we encourage you to head on over and get a free 7-day trial and try it out for yourself…

Who are the top acreage holders in the Marcellus Shale? What is the Winter Gas Price Outlook? Who’s doing what? Where? Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI) has expanded its coverage with the launch of NaturalGasIntel.com — the industry’s most comprehensive natural gas news and shale market data resource available. Get the latest news and receive up-to-the-minute data on any of the top 27 unconventional plays through NGI’s individual basin resource pages.

This is not your father’s NGI. In additional to the continued great journalistic market and price index coverage, you’ll see maps, charts and tables brought to you by NGI’s team of analysts and journalists. Need to know which counties are involved in a play? Who are the leading acreage holders? And which pipelines cross a given basin? It’s all right there on your screen — and it’s up-to-date.

But is it really all about shale and unconventional basins? Not so fast. At NGI we’ve got the conventional gas market covered as well. The natural gas market will see its first storage withdrawal of the season in the next few weeks. On NaturalGasIntel.comNGI has launched the industry’s first price table devoted exclusively to gas transactions at the 16 key storage hubs across the U.S. You need pricing at Egan Hub, Pine Prairie, Southern Pines or Tres Palacios? NGI has it… and we will also tell you when that first storage withdrawal is likely to occur.

Early reaction to the new site from NGI subscribers has been extremely positive. Larry Brown, senior vice president of Tetratech, said: “The new site works great and the information is extremely useful.” Bobby Goldstein, CEO of Chuza Oil company, said: “I love the new site. It’s very fresh and easy on the eyes. It’s easy to use as well.”
