2014 Databook Vol. 2 coverMarcellus Drilling News collaborates with the excellent ShaleNavigator service to publish a series of research reports called the Marcellus and Utica Shale Databook. MDN editor Jim Willis is very excited to announce that Volume 2 for the 2014 Databook series has just been released–and it is, without question, our best-ever. Among the pearls in this newest edition: Jim completely updated a comprehensive list of Marcellus/Utica Shale midstream and infrastructure projects (pipelines and processing plants) that first appeared in Vol. 2 of last year’s series. At that time, in 2013, projects either under construction or planned added up to a staggering $40 billion of investment coming to the northeast. This year? It’s even more mind-blowing. Infrastructure projects planned for the northeast now tally $58 billion–a 45% increase! Read on for the list of the top 5 big-money projects planned for the Marcellus/Utica

The top 5 Marcellus/Utica projects planned for the northeast represent a total investment of $23.2 billion, or 40% of the total. Here is that list:

#5 – Dominion’s Cove Point LNG Terminal – $3.8 billion
#4 – Odebrecht’s ASCENT (Appalachian Shale Cracker Enterprise) – $4 billion
#3 – Energy Transfer Partners’ ET Rover Pipeline – $4.4 billion
#2 – Dominion’s Atlantic Coast Pipeline – $5 billion
#1 – Kinder Morgan’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline Northeast Energy Direct – $6 billion

In Vol. 2 of the Databook (click here for details), we not only give you the company and project name for each infrastructure project, we also provide a full description of the project and include columns indicating what substance it’s being built for (methane, NGLs, etc.), where the construction is/will happen (by county/state), the stage of the project (planning, under construction, nearly done), and the target in-service date for the project. The list has 109 projects spanning the northeast.

New in this edition: a frac sand tutorial and maps of rail lines throughout the northeast.

In addition to a comprehensive list of midstream projects and the new frac sand tutorial, we also include (standard in each volume) maps for each county with active drilling/permitting activity in PA, OH and WV. Each map shows the location of wells with permits along with the driller’s name. In addition, Vol. 2 of the Databook contains charts showing how many permits have been issued by driller and by county in 2013 and 2014–showing the progression over the past two years. These charts are an important tool used to identify the drillers and geographies where drilling is heating up, cooling down, or staying steady. These drilling activity charts are unique to the Databook–the only place where you’ll find such useful information.

Below are sample pages from this newest edition. You may order this single volume online for $175, or (our strong recommendation) you may order the entire 2014 series of three volumes. It’s a “buy two get one free” deal: Pay just $350 for the entire series. Note that there are special features and sections in each of the three volumes not available in the other volumes. The first two volumes are now published and the third volume will come later this year.
