Turns out drawing “free” water from a reservoir in Pennsylvania can cost you quite a bit. CNX Gas, the drilling division/subsidiary of CONSOL Energy, didn’t follow an agreed-upon plan for how much, and how often they withdrew water from a reservoir in North Franklin Township (Washington County), PA. The water withdrawal violations went on between 2011 and 2014 and because of it, CNX will now pay a whopping $450,750 fine.
