JLE Industries Launches Huge New Pipe/Casing Facility in WV

Sponsored Post: MDN is proud to introduce our audience to a new advertiser: JLE Industries. JLE recently opened a new intermodal, 80,000 square foot facility in Benwood (Marshall County), WV to work on pipes and casings used in drilling. Until now, if a driller had a problem that required a casing to be reworked, there were only a handful of machine shops available. Typically the driller would send the work out of the region, slowing progress (time is money!). With the new Benwood location, JLE has a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of the Marcellus/Utica. Faster turnaround, top notch equipment, great folks to work with. What’s not to love! Below is a description of the services offered by JLE at their new facility, along with a personal invitation from MDN to visit them during an open house to be held on April 15 (Friday) from noon to 10pm…

In a market where most supply chain/oilfield services companies are pulling back, JLE Industries (www.jleindustries.com) is doubling down on the energy market with a new intermodal, 80,000 square foot machining, inspection, and repair shop in Benwood, WV.

The project began with the takeover of the old Wheeling-Pitt steel facility on the Ohio River, which was transformed over nine months by JLE’s in-house construction group.

There are three major differentiators at JLE’s Benwood facility that make this a project to watch:

First – JLE’s Benwood facility is the first in the region to accommodate the inspection and machining of 2 3/8” to 20” OCTG in an automated facility.

The 20” casing statement is a big deal. Most wells that are drilled in the Marcellus and Utica Shale Plays use 20” casing in the first 400–500 feet. In today’s market if there is damage or issues with the casing during drilling, operators only have a few machine shops that are capable of cutting and bucking 20” casing.

This is a huge burden for drillers, and having a local shop with these capabilities has been a long time coming.

Second – JLE offers transportation, inspection, machining, phosphating, bucking, and hard-banding all in one location.

In today’s market most of the drillers have to coordinate these services between multiple facilities and vendors. While there are some other vendors in the market that offer a comprehensive service list, JLE also provides integrated logistics and transportation support with their fleet of 100+ trucks.

And third – JLE offers true intermodal support from one location.

Benwood’s position right on the Ohio River means they can offer river, rail, and traditional OTR/truck support which eliminates massive logistics headaches for operators. Everything arrives in one place and can be distributed directly with their wholly owned and operated fleet of trucks.

The facility opened in late February to a select group of customers and JLE is holding a formal Open House April 15th from 12pm – 10pm.
