The Latest Ohio Utica Shale Permits & Wells Drilled Numbers

The number of Utica Shale well permits, and wells drilled, continues it’s rapid ascent. Through March 30 there have been 588 Utica permits issued, and 282 wells drilled. Here’s where the latest permits were issued:

Ohio has issued 588 drilling permits for the Utica shale through March 30.

A total of 282 wells have been drilled, of which 81 are in production, says the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

A total of 34 drilling rigs are working in Ohio.

The newest permits included three in Carroll County, one in Columbiana County, one in Harrison County and two in Noble County.*
