A preview of Dr. Ross’ thinking about Gov. Cuomo’s ban and Zucker’s role in this well-rehearsed drama:
After putting off the decision during his self-imposed four-year “moratorium,” Governor Andrew Cuomo announcedWednesday that New York will ban hydraulic fracturing (fracking). New York is now the first state with significant natural gas resources to ban fracking.
Acting state health commissioner Dr. Howard A. Zucker presented a long-awaited study on fracking during a year-endcabinet meetingon Wednesday, stating the there is insufficient evidence on the safety of fracking. Dr. Zucker said that his review came to one decision: that he would not want to live in a community where fracking was taking place. However, these struggling communities on the New York/Pennsylvania border had eagerly anticipated an economic resurgence led by fracking, as Pennsylvania and Texas have seen. As Karen Moreau, executive director of the New York State Petroleum Council stated, “Our citizens in the Southern Tier have had to watch their neighbors and friends across the border in Pennsylvania thriving economically…and not able to touch that opportunity.”
In 2012, Cuomo was interested in approving a limited program in Southern Tier counties, as he had been focused on trying to improve the upstate economy. These counties sit atop the Marcellus Shale, which expands across New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. However, Cuomo — after pervasive, strident harassment from protestors and environmental advocates, has caved in. Cuomo seems to understand the cowardly move he made as he tried to distance himself from the decision, stating, “I’m a lawyer. I’m not a doctor. I’m not an environmentalist. I’m not a scientist. So let’s bring the emotion down, and let’s ask the qualified experts what their opinion is.”
ACSH’s Dr. Gilbert Ross had this to say: “True enough, Cuomo’s not a scientist — if he were, or even knew any, he would know that the propaganda about ‘health effects’ is not borne out by the evidence. And if he’s not ‘an environmentalist,’ his pusillanimous kowtowing to that camp makes him an honorary blue-ribbon member of the anti-science, anti-progress crowd. He may think this will endear him to his left-wing ‘base,’ but I predict when the shale gas ‘revolution’ is highlighted by his opposition in his now-certain campaign for the Democratic nomination, low gas prices here and the potential freedom from American dependence on foreign energy sources, as well as the obvious economic benefits in the areas allowing fracking, will redound to his detriment. We here at ACSH are saddened for the economically-deprived residents of New York’s Southern Tier — they are truly the victims of this nonsense.”

Monday January 5, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton.
This will need to be the biggest gathering of landowners and NG supporters ever. Each and every single one of you is asked to be there with all the friends, family, and extended family you can bring to prove Governor Cuomo and his lackeys are lying frauds.
As you probably know by now Governor Cuomo has fallen in line with his moneyed Anti-Gas backers and orchestrated Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) anti-gas stances that will totally prevent you from being able to lease your land.
It is very important that all Natural Gas supporters not be swayed by these Albany puppets’ unconscionable and cowardly actions. Their arguments were not based on sound scientific study, but rather on speculation and factually bankrupt rhetoric provided by special interest anti gas foundations like the Park Foundation and groups they support like Frack Action and New Yorkers Against Fracking.
For example, Cuomo stated that he did not know of any support for NG development.
HAS HE NOT BEEN LISTENING TO US??!!! OBVIOUSLY NOT!!!
Cuomo also stated that he had reviewed matters with all stake holders. But he never consulted with the JLCNY which had researched the scientific studies that showed NG development was in fact safe! Again the landowners were ignored and Cuomo has made a bald faced lie.
But the truth will come out. Just for starters the JLCNY in cooperation with other supportive groups is planning the huge protest rally to show Cuomo how much support exists that he is ignoring. If you want to have any chance of leasing your land you have to get loud and show your anger for being ignored and be at this rally.
Please remember, in the United Sates it is your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS to sell, lease, and/or develop your mineral rights. Governor Cuomo is taking your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS! Sorry to say this, but YOU will need to FIGHT to preserve your rights and lease your land.
Above all please don’t be discouraged. We have come this far together, and we’ll make it the rest of the way together.

It astonished me that you cotinnue to use the word news in your title. Would a real news organization photoshop someone’s face on a crapping dog? Does anyone in your organization hold a journalism degree?

I posted a comment and then a second one with a proper link to a news article that explains to people that Dr. Gilbert Ross was convicted of Medicare/Medicaid fraud in Federal Court and was sentenced to 46 months in Federal prison. It also stated that not only did his scam bilk those programs of $8 million, but that he was also found by the judge to have committed perjury during the trial. I posted those more than 7 hours ago, and the comments have not appeared, yet Jason Bell’s post times his comment as 4 hours ago. Are you afraid to let people know that your main expert host “debunker” at your upcoming rally and radio show perjured himself in Federal court, and was convicted of stealing millions of dollars from taxpayers?
