Justice Served: Former PA AG Kathleen Kane Goes to Jail

It takes a loooong time for the wheels of justice to turn, but (usually) turn they do. In 2016 Kathleen Kane, former Pennsylvania Attorney General who prosecuted and persecuted others, particularly in the gas drilling industry, was convicted of committing perjury (i.e. lying under oath) about leaking privileged grand jury information in a case unrelated to gas drilling. She was, in October 2016, sentenced to jail (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Sentenced to Jail for Perjury). But so far, she hasn’t served a single day of her sentence. That all changed yesterday when Kane began serving a 10-23 month sentence.

Minuteman Seeks Justice Against Kathleen Kane & PA AG’s Office

One of the companies in the Marcellus industry targeted for extinction by Pennsylvania’s former Attorney General, Kathleen Kane, was Minuteman Environmental Services (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Charges Minuteman with Enviro Crimes). Minuteman was a Pennsylvania company serving the shale industry with several different businesses. In 2014, Kane orchestrated what can only be called a terror attack on Minuteman and its owner Brian Bolus and his family (see Minuteman Enviro Says PA AG Office “Terrorized” Family Members, Filing Lawsuit). Kane’s vendetta against Minuteman was one of the most egregious examples of her abuse of power while she was AG. Kane’s attack on this small business literally drove it out of existence–they finally went bankrupt. One of the charges Kane used against the owner of the business, Brian Bolus, is that he illegally added his mom and dad to the health insurance plan for the company, even though they were not employees. Fantastically, Kane went after mom and dad, charging them with health care fraud! That charge, along with other charges, were dropped in 2016 (see Former PA AG Kathleen Kane’s Vendetta Against Marcellus Co Over). In fact, out of the original 83 charges (56 charges being felonies), 81 of the charges have been dropped. The final two charges–misdemeanors (barely above a traffic ticket in the pecking order), go to trial this month and will (hopefully) also be dropped. It has taken four, long, years for Bolus and Minuteman to be exonerated legally. During that time, Kane herself was tried and convicted for committing perjury–a felony–and removed from office (unrelated to the Marcellus industry). Kane and the AG’s office caused extreme harm to Brian Bolus and his family–reputationally, and economically. Nothing can ever make up for the years and loss of reputation and forcing a company to go bankrupt, throwing hundreds of people out of jobs. However, there is *something* can be done. Bolus has filed a lawsuit (copy below) against Kane and the AG’s office and some of the people in the AG’s office that maliciously targeted him and his company. He’s demanding a jury trial–to help right the extreme wrong that’s been done…

Former PA AG Kathleen Kane’s Vendetta Against Marcellus Co Over

One of the many companies in the Marcellus industry targeted by Pennsylvania’s former Attorney General, Kathleen Kane, for extinction was Minuteman Environmental Services, a PA company that served the shale industry with several different businesses (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Charges Minuteman with Enviro Crimes). Kane orchestrated what can only be called a terror attack on Minuteman and its owner Brian Bolus and his family (see Minuteman Enviro Says PA AG Office “Terrorized” Family Members, Filing Lawsuit). Minuteman wasn’t the only business she attempted to bully. She also tried to turn accidents into crimes for both XTO Energy (see PA AG Abuses Her Authority, Files Criminal Charges Against XTO) and EQT (see PA Attorney Gen. Kane Abuses Office Again, Arrest Warrant for EQT). But it was her vendetta against Minuteman that was the most poignant and egregious–using the power of the AG’s office to bully a small business literally out of existence (since gone bankrupt). One of the charges was that the owner of the business, Brian Bolus, illegally added his mom and dad to the health insurance plan for the company. Fantastically Kane went after mom and dad, charging them with health care fraud. That charge, along with other charges, have been dropped now that Kane herself has been tried and convicted and will do jail time for committing perjury (among other things) in a case unrelated to Minuteman and the Marcellus industry. Kane is headed to jail (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Sentenced to Jail for Perjury). As one of the employees in the AG’s office said, “through a pattern of systematic firings and Nixonian espionage, she created a terror zone in this office.” Kane’s reign of terror is now over–and the case against Minuteman is now mostly gone, with just a few loose ends to tie up…

PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Sentenced to Jail for Perjury

Kathleen Kane hauled to jail in handcuffs

We take no pleasure in announcing the ignominious end to an ignominious career. Kathleen Kane, former Pennsylvania Attorney General who prosecuted and persecuted others, particularly in the gas drilling industry while she was in office, has herself been prosecuted for committing perjury (i.e. lying under oath) about leaking privileged grand jury information in a case unrelated to gas drilling. She committed the same crime Bill Clinton did when he was president–except sleazy Bill Clinton didn’t go to jail–but Kane is. Don’t shed any tears for Kane–she deserves it…

Jury Finds PA AG Kathleen Kane Guilty of Committing Felonies

Kathleen Kane convicted
Kathleen Kane convicted

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is no longer just felony-indicted. She’s now felony-convicted. Yesterday a jury of six women and six men spent 4 1/2 hours in deliberation following Kane’s trial for committing perjury, among other crimes, and they found her guilty of all nine counts against her. We’ve chronicled this long, sordid affair from the beginning. Kane is an enemy of the drilling industry–she has been from the beginning when she filed criminal charges against XTO Energy for an accidental spill that happened years before she took office. That case was settled just a few weeks ago (see Shakedown Complete: XTO Pays PA AG $400K to Make Case Go Away). Kane’s crimes and subsequent trial have nothing to do with the Marcellus industry. Although she is the top law enforcement officer in the state, Kane is now a convicted criminal facing up to 28 years in jail for her crimes. Yet she still has not resigned her office. If Kane does not resign within the next day or two, look for the PA legislature move swiftly to impeach, convict and forcibly remove her from office…

Panel of 7 PA Senators to Determine AG Kathleen Kane’s Fate

The end is near for accused criminal Kathleen Kane. Kane also happens to be the top law enforcement officer in Pennsylvania–the PA Attorney General. We’ve covered the rapid rise and fall of Kathleen Kane. She’s a hardened anti-driller bent on attacking the Marcellus industry which is why we’re doing a happy dance that she’ll soon be gone. However, the Marcellus industry has nothing to do with her impending removal from office. Kane leaked protected grand jury information to a reporter in an attempt to discredit a political enemy, and then she lied under oath about it–the worst offense anyone who’s a member of the justice system can do. If truth is not sacrosanct in the justice system, it all comes unraveled. You lie under oath and it’s the equivalent of a death sentence–you have no future in the justice system. Kane violated that trust and her oath and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court suspended her license to practice law (see End is Near: PA AG Kane’s Law License Suspended by Supreme Court). Now a panel of Pennsylvania Senators will decide her fate. The special panel is holding a series of public meetings to discuss whether or not she can still do her job without a law license. At the end of November the panel will then vote–and if the vote goes against her it goes to the whole Senate for a vote, and if they vote against her, Kane will be forcibly removed from office…

Deceitful PA AG Kathleen Kane Pulls a Fast One on Media at Courthouse

Kane and twin sisterLiberal Democrats don’t like to play by the same rules everyone else does. They somehow think they’re better than the rest of us–above the law. That’s what happened when the arrogant, and alleged criminal PA Attorney General Kathleen Kane, decided she could flout the law by leaking secret grand jury information to a reporter (see Impeachment, Arrest Looms for PA AG Kane, Caught Leaking Info). When Kane’s lawless behavior was exposed, she lied about it under oath (see PA Grand Jury Finds Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Lied Under Oath). A crime the anti-drilling Kane wasn’t charged with, but should have been, was her targeting and persecution of an innocent Marcellus environmental company (see PA AG Kathleen Kane’s Dirty Deeds Against Minuteman Environmental).

Here is a perfect example of Kane’s arrogant attitude, and a peek into how she operates: On Monday Kane was required to appear in court to answer charges. In order to get media cameras that were set up along the court hallway to avoid taking her picture, she sent her twin sister through the door first, ahead of her (both pictured above). All of the cameras, confused, focused on the twin sister and then Kane walked through with no one getting a camera shot of her. Kathleen Kane’s #1 personality attribute: deceit…

PA AG Kathleen Kane’s Dirty Deeds Against Minuteman Environmental

guest postPennsylvania’s Attorney General, Kathleen Kane, will appear in court today to answer charges that she is, herself, a criminal. She will appear in Montgomery County court to face nine criminal charges, including perjury (i.e. lying under oath). As we have reported, Kane is attempting to divert attention away from her own criminal actions by resurrecting an old porn case, claiming angry white men are out to get her (see AG Kathleen Kane’s Defense: Dirty Old Men are Out to Get Me!). Kane has lost the confidence of everyone, including PA Gov. Tom Wolf–the most liberal governor in America, who is calling on her to resign. Kane lost our confidence from her first day in office in 2012 when she started out by targeting the drilling industry (see Will New PA AG Go After the Marcellus Drilling Industry?). One of the many companies in the Marcellus industry targeted by Kane for extinction over the past three years was Minuteman Environmental Services, a PA company that serves the shale industry with several different businesses (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Charges Minuteman with Enviro Crimes). Kane orchestrated what can only be called a terror attack on Minuteman and its owner Brian Bolus and his family (see Minuteman Enviro Says PA AG Office “Terrorized” Family Members, Filing Lawsuit). Amazingly, Minuteman is still in operation–even though Kane and M&T Bank, working with Kane, froze Minuteman’s assets and tried to bankrupt them. An employee of Minuteman has written a guest editorial for MDN to point out that although Kane is going to court for reasons unrelated to the travesty she’s inflicted on Minuteman, folks should not forget the damage she’s done to the industry, in particular the damage she’s done to Minuteman and its workers…

AG Kathleen Kane’s Defense: Dirty Old Men are Out to Get Me!

On Monday MDN told you that Kathleen Kane, Pennsylvania’s anti-drilling Attorney General, had been arrested and fingerprinted on a felony charge of perjury, plus various misdemeanor charges (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Arrested, Fingerprinted). We told you the charges against Kane have nothing to do with the Marcellus industry that she so zealously persecutes, but we’ll be darned if the Marcellus, in a roundabout way, hasn’t crept into this ongoing saga. Yesterday Kane held a press conference where she a) avoided responding to or commenting on the very serious charges against her, and b) instead claimed people are out to get her because of a case her office prosecuted last year in which she found, in going over old emails from before she took office, that some state employees swapped pornographic emails using government computers. That case that led to the resignation of a state Supreme Court judge and also the resignation of then-Secretary of the Dept. of Environmental Protection Chris Abruzzo (see PA DEP Sec. Chris Abruzzo Resigns Following Porn Email Scandal). Abruzzo was liked by the Marcellus industry. Kane’s performance yesterday was, frankly, sad and somewhat bizarre. It appears the pressure is causing her to self-destruct right before our eyes. Her “defense” was not a denial that she leaked privileged information to a reporter in an act of revenge against a subordinate (something a grand jury indicted her for)–but that dirty old men are mad that she snooped through their emails, and now they’re out to get her. Kane’s solution? Release the “filthy” emails to distract everyone from her own crimes…

PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Arrested, Fingerprinted

Kathleen Kane, Pennsylvania’s anti-drilling Attorney General, has been arrested. It was a long time coming (too long), but last Thursday she was officially charged with perjury, obstruction, conspiracy, official oppression, and other offenses. Not related to the drilling industry. She was arrested and finger printed on Saturday. And what does Kane do? She hides behind her skirt–claiming it’s men (i.e. political bullies) out to get her because she’s a girl. Yeah, men forced her to lie under oath and fire people who worked for her that testified against her, right? What a coward. We’re not going to recount the litany of stories we’ve written about Kane’s prejudice against the Marcellus industry (you can read our Kane stories here). She hasn’t resigned–yet. We do expect that to happen. If she doesn’t resign, she should be forced from office via impeachment. Here’s the latest in PA’s ongoing soap opera about Kathleen Kane…

Poll: PA Voters Want AG Kathleen Kane to Resign

We have a second poll to share with you today from Robert Morris University, conducted in early June, this one on the topic of Pennsylvania’s anti-drilling and law-breaking Attorney General, Kathleen Kane. We won’t recount the laundry list of Kane’s persecution of the drilling industry in the state. We’ll only remind you that a grand jury is rumored to have found that she lied under oath–a little offense called perjury (see PA Grand Jury Finds Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Lied Under Oath). In a desperate attempt to hold on to power, Kane hired Lanny Davis to represent her in court. Lanny was Bill Clinton’s attack dog lawyer, hired to represent him after he lied under oath about getting BJs in the Oval Office. The depressing news coming from the RMU poll is that half of the residents of Pennsylvania don’t know about the “controversies” surrounding Kane–the fact that she lied under oath, etc. But of the other half who do know about it, two-thirds of them think she should resign–now…

PA Grand Jury Finds Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Lied Under Oath

Kathleen Kane, the anti-drilling Attorney General of Pennsylvania–lied under oath–according to a PA grand jury. That’s called perjury and it’s a crime. She should be removed from office immediately but she’s fighting the charge using Lanny Davis–the same lawyer who kept Bill Clinton in office after he lied under oath. She’s hoping lightening will strike twice and Davis will be able to restore her damaged-beyond-repair credibility as the state’s top law enforcement officer, even though she herself has committed high crimes against the state. Why do we care? Because she’s lied in at least two other cases that affect the Marcellus Shale industry: XTO Energy (see PA AG Abuses Her Authority, Files Criminal Charges Against XTO) and Minuteman Environmental Services (see Minuteman Sues AG Kane’s Office for $20M + Punitive Damages). She’s vicious and relentless when it comes to smearing the Marcellus industry and she needs to go because of her own crimes…

What’s Next for PA Attorney General Kathleen Kane?

On Monday MDN told you that Pennsylvania’s anti-drilling Democrat Attorney General, Kathleen Kane, is herself under investigation for leaking secret grand jury information to a newspaper (see Impeachment, Arrest Looms for PA AG Kane, Caught Leaking Info). So what happens now to Kane? Does she get arrested (so richly deserved after she’s arrested innocent people in the drilling industry numerous times)? Will she be forced to resign because she can no longer do her job (although one can argue she hasn’t been doing it for the past two years)? Will she be impeached and removed from office? Will nothing happen at all? The Philadelphia Inquirer, right in the center of this controversy (a couple of their reporters have been subpoenaed as receiving the secret info from Kane), delves into what may be next for PA’s in-trouble AG…

Kathleen “Wag the Dog” Kane Says Chessy Investigation Almost Done

One of the Democrats’ favorite tactics: When the spotlight is on you because of your own criminal behavior, try to turn it elsewhere. Quick, anywhere! Bill Clinton tried it when he was being dogged by the Monica Lewinsky scandal–he bombed an aspirin factory in the Sudan. It’s called Wag the Dog–as in create a new issue to distract people from the old issue you don’t want them to focus on any more. Apparently Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, Kathleen Kane, is using the same tactic. A grand jury says Kane broke the law herself in her role as AG by committing perjury (see PA Grand Jury Finds Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Lied Under Oath). Kane is fighting the charge in court by using Bill Clinton’s lawyer attack dog Lanny Davis. Apparently Lanny is now advising Kane to Wag that Dog too. So Kane is saying her investigation of Chesapeake Energy over shorting landowners out of royalties due to them is “almost wrapped up”–which of course has everyone buzzing and forgetting about her own criminal behavior…

PA AG Kathleen “Anti-Driller” Kane Probes Chessy Royalty Issue

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s office is interviewing people on the Chesapeake Energy royalties screwing scandal, reportedly. We have mixed emotions about it. Yes, the state needs to investigate and see if there has been malfeasance. However, we question whether an avowedly anti-drilling AG has the moral or ethical ability to do so honestly. Yes, we ARE questioning her fitness for the office. Problem is, Gov. Tom Corbett and other PA Republicans like State Sen. Gene Yaw asked her to investigate–so it’s on their heads if she turns into the proverbial bull in a china closet and takes the opportunity to try and destroy the drilling industry as part of her “investigation.”

Here’s the latest from the rumor mill on Kane’s so-called royalty investigation…

Is New PA AG Shapiro Targeting Marcellus Industry like Kane Did?

Steve Santarsiero

We have some chilling and disturbing news to share with our fiends in the Marcellus industry in Pennsylvania. When Kathleen Kane, the now removed-from-office, former Attorney General of PA, took office in 2013, we speculated (based on her previous statements) whether or not she would target the drilling industry (see Will New PA AG Go After the Marcellus Drilling Industry?). Over the next several years, she did indeed target the industry, attempting to turn accidents into crimes (see PA AG Abuses Her Authority, Files Criminal Charges Against XTO; PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Charges Minuteman with Enviro Crimes; and PA Attorney Gen. Kane Abuses Office Again, Arrest Warrant for EQT). Kane was later hoist with her own petard, jailed for a crime unrelated to the drilling industry (see PA’s Anti-Drilling AG Kathleen Kane Sentenced to Jail for Perjury). A fitting end to an undistinguished career. Kane’s successor, Attorney General Josh Shapiro, may be heading in the same direction as Kane by targeting the industry. Shapiro has just appointed an anti-driller, Steve Santarsiero, as Chief Deputy Attorney General of the Environmental Protection Section. It will be Santarsiero’s job to aggressively “prosecute cases against anyone or any company that breaks the law and harms our environment.” Santarsiero helped ban fracking on PA state land under former Gov. Ed “fast Eddie” Rendell…
