Shell Giving Up on Shale? Merges Unconventional with Conventional

Just last November supermajor Royal Dutch Shell announced they were restructuring their upstream (drilling) units into two divisions: conventional and unconventional/shale (see Shell Restructures Upstream into Conventional/Unconventional Units). Then last week Shell announced they’ve scrapped the plan and will continue to treat all of upstream as one division within the company. What happened?
