MDN Off Thursday & Friday – A Sad Personal Note from Jim

MDN editor and writer Jim Willis needs to step away from writing duties for a couple of days due to a tragic death in the family.

From Jim:

My only sibling, my beloved sister, died unexpectedly last Saturday at the way-too-early age of 51. Her funeral is on Friday. She was single and completely devoted to our parents, both of whom are still alive. Needless to say, this is devastating for our family.

This week has been chaotic, to say the least. I have a lot on my plate at the moment in preparing for the funeral and tending to her affairs. I elected to write MDN Monday through Wednesday, frankly, as a form of therapy. Writing keeps me sane in insane times like this.

Our family has a strong faith in God, and that comforts us. We would appreciate your prayers as we navigate this hard road.

I am posting this note to explain my absence over the next few days. I have the best audience in the world, and I know that you will understand. Thank you in advance for your understanding. I’ll return to writing on Monday.

  1. How sad, Jim. I can only imagine your poor parents’ grief and the pain you’re experiencing in losing a sister so relatively young with so much life to live. Know that both she and your family will be in our prayers. God Bless you all.

  2. Sincere condolences Jim. So sorry to learn of your loss. May your happy memories of her help you through this difficult time.

  4. Thank you all for your very kind words. It truly comforts me. We’ll make it through…one day at a time.

  5. Jim,
Smokey and I send our deepest sympathies to you, your parents and your family. Losing a loved one is never easy but one so young and unexpected is doubly sad. Parents should never have to bury their children. Cherish the memories and hug your parents a little tighter. They will need you even more. Here’s a ((hug)) for you too. Chip & Smokey

  6. May an Angel hold you & your family close during this very trying time.

I have 3 sisters and understand the feelings of loss & bewilderment.
Take a deep breath and allow the friends & family around you to help carry the heavy load.
