Celebrating Life & Legacy of Aubrey McClendon 10 Yrs After Death

| | | |
Aubrey McClendon
It's been 10 years since the tragic death of Aubrey McClendon, a visionary leader who fundamentally reshaped the natural gas industry and Oklahoma City. As co-founder of Chesapeake Energy (now Expand Energy), McClendon spearheaded massive developments, including the Chesapeake campus, the Boathouse District, and bringing the NBA’s Thunder to OKC. While lauded for his philanthropy and "wildcatter" spirit, McClendon faced significant controversies involving corporate debt and legal indictments. He was kicked out of the company he co-founded, Chesapeake, and started a new company, American Energy Partners (now Ascent Resources). He died in a 2016 car crash (see Stunned: Former Chesapeake CEO Aubrey McClendon Dies in Car Crash).
