New Video from Reason.tv: The Truth About Fracking

Reason is a monthly print magazine with the tagline of “free minds and free markets.” It covers politics, culture, and ideas through a mix of news, analysis, commentary, and reviews. Reason does not lean right nor left, but instead makes “a principled case for liberty and individual choice in all areas of human activity.” Reason also has an operation they call Reason.tv—short online videos. MDN came across a video posted by Reason.tv yesterday called, “The Truth About Fracking.” It’s a short 5 1/2 minute interview conducted by Reason’s Nick Gillespie with science correspondent Ronald Bailey.

In the interview, Bailey tackles the question of whether or not fracking is safe—its potential benefits and potential problems. Well worth five minutes of your time.

  1. You are so predictable when listing the “for” side of MS gas drilling.  I would recommend that those who view this Reason.tv, The Truth About Fracking, view other posts listed there for the downside experienced by real people living with the fracking procedure and end results including water and air pollution.  In past posts you have mentioned the small amount of chemicals added to the frack water when in reality it amounts to thousands of gallons of chemicals being used when considering millions of gallons of water are used for each drilled well.  Also, although fracking may have gone on for many years, horizontal fracking is relatively new so people need to know this.  The industry always states how long fracking has been going on (60 years) but horizontal fracking allows for much more fluids to be pumped into the ground.
