3 Major Shale Gas Regions Compared: M-U, Permian, Haynesville
Just three shale plays in the U.S. were responsible for producing 59% of all the natural gas produced in 2021. They were the Marcellus/Utica (i.e. Appalachia), the Permian (in Texas and New Mexico), and the Haynesville (mostly Louisiana, but some of it in Texas).
