Spire Asks FERC for Emergency Cert. to Keep St. Louis Pipe Online

| | |
In June MDN brought you the news that three Democrat judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit overturned a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval for a long-completed and flowing natural gas pipeline in the St. Louis area that flows Marcellus/Utica gas to residents, businesses, and electric generating plants throughout the region (see Fed Court Overturns Marcellus to St. Louis Pipe – Shutdown Coming?). The decision means the Spire STL pipeline must shut down and stop operating--which is truly nuts. Spire STL connects to and flows Marcellus/Utica gas from the Rockies Express (REX) pipeline to the St. Louis area. On Monday the pipeline's parent company, Spire, filed a request with FERC (full copy below) for an emergency certificate to keep the Spire STL pipeline operating.
