Hiccups with Freeport LNG Restart Cause Cancellation of 4 LNG Ships
We have been closely tracking the restart of the shuttered Freeport LNG export terminal following its emergency shutdown in June 2022 after an explosion and fire. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) granted permission for Freeport to restart two of three liquefaction “trains” at the facility in February (see FERC Clears Freeport LNG to Restart 2 of 3 Liquefaction Trains), and the third train and all remaining operations received permission to restart earlier this month (see FERC Grants OK to Restart Freeport LNG Final Liquefaction Train). However, there have been hiccups--unspecified problems--that have caused Freeport to cancel some of the LNG cargo carriers waiting to load up at the facility.
