US Supremes Won’t Block EPA Regs Banning Coal & Gas-Fired Power

| | |
In August, some two dozen states asked the U.S. Supreme Court to place a temporary block on new EPA regulations that will put all coal plants out of business and block most (if not all) new gas-fired power plants from getting built (see States Asks U.S. Supreme Court to Emergency Block EPA Methane Reg). The EPA wants to force the U.S. oil and gas industry to cut methane emissions by using budget-busting new technologies and onerous (frequent) inspections (see Bidenistas Unleash Hellscape of U.S. Methane Regs at COP28). Yesterday, the Supremes declined to invoke a temporary block while a lawsuit plays out in the lower U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
