Mark Christie was named chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Jan. 20, the first day of President Donald Trump’s second term. Christie joined the five-member nonpartisan, independent commission in 2021 and is one of its two Republican members. Before joining FERC, Christie served on the Virginia State Corporation Commission for 17 years. He estimates he was involved in more than 17,000 cases that came before the state agency that regulates banking, insurance, and utilities. Cardinal News recently did a sit-down interview with Christie and asked him a wide range of questions on topics including electric bills, energy demand, and the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
