New Seneca Water Pipeline Signals More Fracking in Tioga County

Want to know where a driller plans to frack next? Follow the water. Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) just issued a permit allowing Seneca Resources, the drilling arm of National Fuel Gas (NFG), to build a 16-inch freshwater pipeline through Farmington and Chatham townships in northern Tioga County. You don't lay a 16-inch water line to fill a kiddie pool. Add in a string of new Seneca well pad water approvals in those same townships, a new interstate gas pipeline ending in Chatham Township, and Seneca's coming life as a standalone company, and the message is pretty clear: more wells (and more royalty checks) are headed for this corner of Tioga County.
