Toby Z. Rice, CEO of EQT
Toby Rice is President & CEO of EQT Corporation, the second-largest natural gas producer in the U.S. and THE largest producer of Marcellus/Utica gas. He has been a tireless advocate for natural gas, pipelines, and LNG exports. In a recent op-ed, Rice makes the strong case that Winter Storm Fern’s extreme natural gas price spikes exposed the urgent need for permitting reform to ensure energy reliability. We need more pipelines (and natural gas infrastructure of all kinds), and we need it NOW. In regions like the Southeast and New England, inadequate infrastructure during Fern forced prices fifty times the national average or necessitated a shift to dirtier fuels. The failure of permitting reform, which blocked new pipelines to New England, was the expensive option. It's time to end the renewable fantasy and get back to reality.
