US LNG Carrier Delivers 540M Gallons to Puerto Rico in First Year

| |
Crowley LNG carrier, American Energy, docked at EcoElectrica facility in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico.
The American Energy, the first U.S.-flagged LNG carrier dedicated to Puerto Rico, has completed one year of operations. Operated by Crowley, the vessel has delivered over 549 million gallons of U.S.-sourced LNG to the island since this time in 2025 (see Ceremony Celebrates 1st Jones Act LNG Shipment to Puerto Rico). That 549 million gallons of LNG provided enough energy for about 1.2 million homes annually and reduced emissions by nearly 30% compared to diesel. This service supports Puerto Rico's energy resilience by ensuring a consistent supply to the EcoEléctrica facility and has employed 90 U.S. mariners, including 20% from Puerto Rico, strengthening the local workforce.
