Amazon Files Plans for 36 Data Centers at Homer City Gas Plant

Back in August, we told you Amazon Web Services (AWS) was "in discussions" to land data centers at the massive Homer City Energy Campus in Indiana County, PA (see Amazon in Talks to Land Data Centers at Homer City Gas Plant). We said we'd keep watching for the permit filings that would turn "talks" into "reality." Well, here they are. Amazon's data center arm, Amazon Data Services, Inc., has filed a preliminary master land development plan with Indiana County to build 36 data centers on roughly 1,100 acres of the campus, powered by the 4.4–4.5 gigawatt (GW) natural gas-fired plant now under construction there.
