Bluegrass Pipeline Launches Open Season, on Track for 2015 Launch

Williams and Boardwalk Pipeline Partners that are together building the Bluegrass Pipeline--a natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline from the Utica/Marcellus region in the northeast all the way to the Gulf Coast--announced yesterday they will conduct a binding open season for drillers to sign up to use the new pipeline, starting next week on Oct 29. The most recent edition of the Marcellus and Utica Shale Databook (Volume 2), estimates the Bluegrass Pipeline project will cost on the order of $1.5 billion to complete. Construction is under way now and the new pipeline, with an initial takeaway capacity of 200,000 barrels per day, is expected to be done and in service in late 2015.
