Diversified Energy Buys 3rd Well Plugging Co. – WV’s ConServ

Diversified Energy is growing again. In February, Diversified bought out and merged in well-plugging company Next LVL Energy, headquartered in the Pittsburgh area (see Diversified Energy Buys Well-Plugging Co. NextLVL Energy). In May, Diversified announced it is buying a second well-plugging company, Nick’s Well Plugging LLC, based in Warren, Ohio (see Diversified Energy Buys Second Well-Plugging Co. – Based in OH). Here we are two months later, and Diversified is doing it again–buying a third well-plugging company, Contractor Services Inc. (also known as ConServ), based in Spencer, West Virginia.

Cunningham Energy to Drill More WV Shallow Horizontal Oil Wells

It’s been over a year since we brought you news about Cunningham Energy, a small oil driller based in West Virginia (see Cunningham Energy Focuses on Shallow Horizontal Oil Wells in WV). Cunningham, backed by money from Viper Capital Partners, is once again in the news. Viper has just acquired drilling leases (and conventional wells) in Roane and Gilmer counties in WV. Viper says its drilling arm, Cunningham, will drill more “shallow” horizontal (fracked) wells in those locations, looking for oil.

New Marcellus/Utica Driller in WV: Standard Oil Co.

A 16 year-old company, Standard Oil Co of West Virginia, has just purchased the assets of Mountain Country Partners for an undisclosed amount of money for 12,750 acres in Roane County, along with interests in about 395 oil and gas wells in Roane and Gilmer counties. Standard bought out Mountain Country Partners in bankruptcy court. With the new acreage, Standard now owns more than 30,000 acres in WV, OH and KY, with the majority of it in WV. According to Standard’s CEO Andrew Zelnar, the company has “substantial Marcellus and Utica shale leases” that it intends to begin drilling after the company floats an initial public offering to raise cash…
