Red Tsunami that Wasn’t – Repubs May Take House, PA Biggest Loser

Inept and unaccomplished John Fetterman wins Senate in PA

We sincerely thought yesterday’s election would have a far better turnout. We’re trying not to despair, but it’s hard. New York State is lost. It’s gone. Overrun with crime and zero prospects for fracking–ever. It’s time to leave NY (we never thought we would say it, but we’re giving up on NY). The Pennsylvania Marcellus industry is now in for four very hard years under Gov. Josh Shapiro. We warned you he would come for the Marcellus. We’ll be here to chronicle it. And John Fetterman? What a disaster. He’s never even held a real job, he can’t speak in complete sentences–and he’s your new U.S. Senator. A full-fledged Communist. PA–you will now get what you deserve. Tough words of tough love.

The only saving grace for PA is that the House and Senate in PA remain under Republican, pro-Marcellus control. That will be somewhat of a check against the anti-Marcellus Shapiro. But still, the PA governor holds great power because he runs the Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). As we’ve seen, those agencies, with the wrong people in them (like Pat McDonnell and Cindy Adams Dunn, respectively), can do great damage.

Who were the biggest winners yesterday, as far as the Marcellus/Utica goes? West Virginia and Ohio. Those states will likely pick up new drilling activity that exits Pennsylvania. While PA has good rocks, other states–neighboring states–have good rocks too. And they have a lower tax burden and far more favorable regulations. They also have governors and U.S. senators who support shale drilling, not hate it.

You can also look for M-U drillers to expand more into other plays, like the Haynesville. Again, we’re just keeping it honest here, which is (we hope) what you expect from us. If you live in PA and you’re already drilled under, you’re safe (we hope). If you were hoping for new leasing and drilling in PA under Josh Shapiro, don’t hold your breath.

Nationally the House is likely to flip to Republican control–but just by a whisker. That’s about the only good news coming from yesterday because it means the era of rubber-stamping the worst Presidency in the history of the country is over. It looks to us like the Senate will remain a 50/50 split. Extremely disappointing.

We had hoped Americans, as a whole, had woken up. Apparently, tyranny will be the only schoolmaster that will wake us up, and we’re quickly heading down that road. Somehow we, as a nation, haven’t learned that socialism/Communism doesn’t work. We personally blame our terrible school system for miseducating our youth. Whatever the cause, if we persist in the illusion that ending the use of fossil energy and giving up our energy freedom will somehow save the planet, we will destroy the U.S. economy. It will all come undone. We’re seeing the beginning of it under Joe Biden with soaring inflation and (now) job losses.

The one bright spot yesterday was Florida, where freedom won. We have tremendous respect for Gov. Ron DeSantis. Good things are happening in Florida. No wonder thousands of people leave states like NY (and PA) every single day and move to Florida. It makes sense.

Sorry to be so pessimistic today. It’s hard not to be. We’re still grieving what could have been and now won’t be.

  1. Great article, I don’t know how Fetterman won and Mastriano lost. Or how cashless bail and covid lockdowns beat Lee Zeldin in NYS.
New England however is the biggest loser with the unpossibility of NatGas fracking in NYS and the pinch in PA.
Disclosure- I live in Florida: I’m happy. But I’m not happy.
