Nacero Pivots – PA Marcellus GTL Plant to Produce Jet Fuel not Gas

Two weeks ago, MDN did something we don’t often do: We broke news, providing an exclusive that Naceo’s plan to build a $6 billion gas-to-liquids (GTL) refinery on the site of a former coal mine in Newport Township and Nanticoke in Luzerne County, PA, is still alive and active (see Nacero Plan for Northeast PA Marcellus-to-Liquids Plant Still Alive). Must be our story prompted local media in Luzerne County to do some real reporting. In a follow-up, a local newspaper reports while Nacero still wants to build the facility (confirming our news), but that the type of facility it wants to build has now changed.

PA Anti-Fossil Fuelers Hold Online Session to Bash Nacero GTL Plant

In late October Nacero announced a $6 billion gas-to-liquids (GTL) refinery, to be built on the site of a former coal mine in Newport Township and Nanticoke in Luzerne County, PA (see NEPA Huge Deal – $6B Plant to Convert Marcellus Gas to Gasoline). The plant will convert Marcellus natural gas into zero-sulfur gasoline for use in existing cars and trucks without modification. Local anti-fossil fuel zealots hosted an online session to bash away at the plant, hoping to scare a few more people into opposing it. Thing is, nobody believes them anymore.

It didn’t take long for Big Green radicals to begin their shrill campaign of lies and smears (see Big Green Organizes to Oppose Nacero GTL Plant Near Wilkes-Barre). What about the folks living in the community. What do they think?

Big Green Organizes to Oppose Nacero GTL Plant Near Wilkes-Barre

Nacero technology overview (click for larger version)

A group of 16 radical left groups (far far outside the mainstream) have banded together to announce their opposition to Nacero’s recently announced $6 billion gas-to-liquids (GTL) refinery, to be built on the site of a former coal mine in Newport Township and Nanticoke in Luzerne County, PA (see NEPA Huge Deal – $6B Plant to Convert Marcellus Gas to Gasoline). The plant will convert Marcellus natural gas into zero-sulfur gasoline for use in existing cars and trucks without modification. The groups, both local and statewide, are spreading lies about the facility and its environmental and economic impacts. Typical.

In November we shared the exciting news that Nacero Inc. will build a $6 billion refinery on the site of a former coal mine in Newport Township and Nanticoke in Luzerne County, PA (see NEPA Huge Deal – $6B Plant to Convert Marcellus Gas to Gasoline). The plant will convert Marcellus natural gas into zero-sulfur gasoline for use in existing cars and trucks without modification. However, Nacero has plans to build three such plants in the U.S. One of their projects, located in Texas, has just received an air quality permit and plans to begin construction on phase one within the next 30 days.

NEPA Gas-to-Gasoline Plant May Grow Prod in Pipe-Constrained Area

Earlier this month we shared the exciting news that Nacero Inc. will build a $6 billion refinery on the site of a former coal mine in Newport Township and Nanticoke in Luzerne County, PA (see NEPA Huge Deal – $6B Plant to Convert Marcellus Gas to Gasoline). The plant will convert Marcellus natural gas into zero-sulfur gasoline for use in existing cars and trucks without modification. We have some expert analysis of this project and a closer look at the company building it.

NEPA Huge Deal – $6B Plant to Convert Marcellus Gas to Gasoline

This rendering, provided by Nacero Inc., shows one of the company’s gas manufacturing facilities that is under construction in Odessa, Texas. It is similar to one the company has proposed for Luzerne County.

Some super-exciting news to share about a massive, $6 billion petrochemical plant coming to northeastern Pennsylvania. On Friday, PA State Sen. John Yudichak, who wisely left the Democrat Party and became an Independent, announced Nacero Inc. will build a $6 billion manufacturing facility on the site of a former coal mine in Newport Township and Nanticoke in Luzerne County, PA. The plant will convert Marcellus natural gas into zero-sulfur gasoline for use in their existing cars and trucks without modification.
