A different group of nuts, in Massachusetts, is demanding to see the emergency plans for a compressor station in Weymouth about to go online. You will comply, resistance is futile…

Mass. Congressman Wants FBI to Investigate Weymouth Compressor

There’s a new twist in the ongoing situation (a mountain created from a molehill) in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Enbridge built and wants to bring online a compressor station that will push an extra 132,705 Dth/d (132.7 MMcf/d) of natural gas along the Algonquin Gas Transmission pipeline. During testing to bring the compressor station online, Enbridge experienced two minor emergency shutdowns.

PHMSA Keeps Weymouth, MA Compressor Offline Following Shutdowns

The plant had to vent what amounted to a puff of natural gas. Yet antis screamed for an intervention. They got it.

2nd Emergency Shutdown at Weymouth, MA Compressor, Antis Pounce

A few weeks ago Enbridge began testing its Weymouth, Massachusetts compressor station project, the final piece of the company’s $452 million Atlantic Bridge expansion project. As sometimes happens when you begin testing, there was a problem. A gasket failure led to an unplanned release of 265 Mcf of gas (see Emergency Shutdown at Weymouth Compressor During Initial Test). It’s happened again. A second “emergency shutdown” occurred yesterday when the plant released (drum roll please….) 10 Mcf of natural gas.

Mass. Senators Ask Enbridge to Delay Weymouth Compressor Startup

Last week Enbridge asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for permission to bring its Weymouth, Massachusetts compressor station online by Oct. 1 (see Enbridge Asks FERC to Start Up Weymouth Compressor in 2 Weeks). Because of a brief problem during testing, Massachusetts U.S. Senators Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren and Ed “Lackey” Markey are pressuring (bullying) Enbridge to delay the start of the Weymouth station.

Enbridge Using Solar Farm to Power TETCO Compressor Station in NJ

Enbridge, the owner/operator of the Texas Eastern Transmission Pipeline Company (TETCO), is building a first. The company is building a compressor station in Hunterdon County, New Jersey that is all-electric. Building an all-electric compressor isn’t a first (although it’s not typical). What is a first is where the electricity will come from to power it–a big, ugly 12-acre solar farm sitting nearby.

Last week Enbridge began testing its Weymouth, Massachusetts compressor station project, the final piece of the company’s $452 million Atlantic Bridge expansion project (see Weymouth, MA Compressor Stn Begins Testing, Coming Online Soon). As sometimes happens when you begin testing, there was a problem. A gasket failure led to an unplanned release of 265 Mcf of gas Friday morning (see Emergency Shutdown at Weymouth Compressor During Initial Test). Even with that hiccup, Enbridge says the plant is now ready to go online.

As sometimes happens when you begin testing, there was a problem. A gasket failure led to an unplanned release of 265,000 cubic feet of gas Friday morning. Workers at the site triggered an emergency shutdown.

Weymouth, MA Compressor Stn Begins Testing, Coming Online Soon

Enbridge’s Weymouth compressor station project, the final piece of the $452 million Atlantic Bridge expansion project, has begun testing in preparation to go online. As part of the testing, the station will, on occasion, release a small amount of (gasp!) natural gas into the air. Run for the hills! Get out while you can!

Fed Court Restores Weymouth, MA Compressor Permit – For Now

In early June an Obamadroid federal judge vacated a permit for the Weymouth compressor station, the last piece of Spectra Energy/Enbridge’s Atlantic Bridge pipeline project–a project which took years to build (see Obama Judge Overturns Air Permit for Weymouth, MA Compressor Stn). Even so, Enbridge kept on building the plant (see Weymouth Compressor Continues Construction Despite Judge’s Ruling). It’s a good thing Enbridge kept building because a panel of judges from the same court (First Circuit Court of Appeals) yesterday reversed the earlier decision. The court said the permit is reinstated (at least for now) because Enbridge will likely win its lawsuit to complete the project.

Third Lawsuit Filed Against Enbridge for KY TETCO Pipe Explosion

On August 1, 2019, Enbridge’s Texas Eastern Pipeline Company (TETCO) pipeline exploded in Lincoln County, Kentucky–killing one and sending six to the hospital (see TETCO Pipe Explodes in Kentucky Killing 1; Southbound M-U Gas Stops). In September we reported that at least two lawsuits had been filed against Enbridge and TETCO–one for wrongful death, the other by a couple severely injured and burned following the incident (see Two Lawsuits Filed Against Enbridge for KY TETCO Pipe Explosion). A third lawsuit, on behalf of 80 people “affected by the blast,” has just been filed by a personal injury lawyer now a year after the accident.

Weymouth Compressor Continues Construction Despite Judge’s Ruling

The Weymouth compressor station is the last piece of Spectra Energy/Enbridge’s Atlantic Bridge pipeline project–a project which took years to build. In July 2019 the Massachusetts Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) granted an air permit for the final piece, the Weymouth compressor station (see Mass. DEP Issues Air Permit for Weymouth Compressor Station). Last month (a full year later!), Obama Judge William Kayatta from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit overturned the state permit, telling the DEP to do it all over again (see Obama Judge Overturns Air Permit for Weymouth, MA Compressor Stn). We’re delighted to see the judge’s ruling has not stopped construction on the project.

The radical environmental activism of the dark Obama years continues to live on via our corrupted court system. After years of delays caused by colluding Big Green groups, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) finally green-lighted construction of a compressor station in Weymouth, Mass. late last year (see Stop Press! Enbridge to Begin Construction on Weymouth Compressor). And indeed, construction began in December with antis trying to block it (see 2 Dozen Antis Protest at Weymouth Compressor Site – 4 Arrested). Now a federal judge appointed by Lord Barack Hussein Obama has overturned a state permit for the project, a permit issued nearly a year ago.

PHMSA Finds TETCO Pipe Defects at Kentucky 2019 Explosion Site

The last nine months haven’t been the best for Enbridge’s Texas Eastern Pipeline Company (TETCO) pipeline in Kentucky. Last August one of the TETCO lines exploded in Lincoln County, Kentucky, killing one and sending six to the hospital (see TETCO Pipe Explodes in Kentucky Killing 1; Southbound M-U Gas Stops). Earlier this month TETCO exploded again, in Fleming County, Kentucky (see Texas Eastern Pipeline Explodes in Kentucky…Again). Fortunately, the second Kentucky explosion didn’t injure anyone.

3 TETCO Pipelines in Kentucky Shut Down (for Now) Following Blast

One week ago the Texas Eastern Pipeline Company (TETCO) pipeline running through Kentucky exploded for the second time in a year (see Texas Eastern Pipeline Explodes in Kentucky…Again). The Marcellus/Utica gas flowing through TETCO in that area had been flowing at 1.33 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d). It’s now flowing at zero. When will gas flows return to at least one of the three TETCO lines running through Kentucky?
