New Fortress Permit to Ship LNG by Rail May Expire on Nov. 30

The environmental radicals on the left continue their push to defeat the construction of an $800 million liquefaction plant in Wyalusing (Bradford County), PA, meant to liquefy and ship LNG to a planned facility on the Delaware River, for exporting to other countries. The left’s latest ploy? Antis are proclaiming a special permit issued during the Trump administration that allows LNG from the Wyalusing plant to be shipped via special rail cars is about to expire at the end of this month and almost certainly won’t get renewed. In addition, antis have stirred up some of the liberal locals near the port facility where the LNG would get safely loaded onto ships. It is a continuing, coordinated two-pronged attack against the project.

Radicals Object to PA DEP Extending Air Permit for Wyalusing LNG

What’s happening with New Fortress Energy’s (NFE) proposed LNG liquefaction plant planned for Wyalusing, PA? We told you in March the company hasn’t given up on the plan, but for now is focused elsewhere (see New Fortress Hasn’t Given Up on PA LNG, Focused Elsewhere). We have evidence that indeed, NFE has not given up. The PA Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued an air permit for the facility when NFE filed its original plans. That air permit is due to expire and NFE wants it extended. The extension has brought the crazies out of the woodwork to object…

New Fortress Asks Court to Rein in FERC Jurisdiction on PR LNG

New Fortress Energy, which likes to build and own as much of the LNG supply chain as possible, built and finished an LNG import terminal in San Juan, Puerto Rico in early 2020. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) then dinged the company, asking for an explanation as to why they built it without FERC permission (see FERC Orders New Fortress to Explain Unauthorized PR LNG Facility). New Fortress responded that FERC told them permission wasn’t needed (see New Fortress Pushes Back Against FERC re Puerto Rico LNG Facility). FERC persisted, and now New Fortress is asking a federal court to get involved.

Big Green Says FERC Ruling Could Impact NFE’s Wyalusing LNG Plan

New Fortress Energy (NFE), which likes to build and own as much of the LNG supply chain as possible, built and operates an LNG import terminal in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After the facility was up and running, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) dinged the company, asking for an explanation as to why they built it without FERC “Mother May I?” permission. New Fortress responded last July saying FERC told them no permission was needed (see New Fortress Pushes Back Against FERC re Puerto Rico LNG Facility). After mulling the matter over for eight months, FERC ruled last week that indeed it does have permission after all. Anti-fossil fuelers are hailing that decision as a possible indicator that FERC will also insert itself in NFE’s plans to build and operate an LNG plant in Wyalusing, PA, and a related export dock in Gibbstown, NJ.

New Fortress Hasn’t Given Up on PA LNG, Focused Elsewhere

New Fortress Energy (NFE), the brainchild of billionaire Wes Edens, came out of nowhere just a few years ago to become one of the world’s leading natural gas infrastructure and logistics operators, delivering natural gas (typically LNG) to customers in a number of other countries. NFE also builds and operates gas-fired electric plants in some of those countries. They own most of the supply chain, from liquefying the gas to shipping it, unloading it, and using it in plants built and operated by the company. We track NFE for their plan to build an LNG liquefaction plant in Bradford County, PA (northeastern part of the state). What’s happening with that project?

WSJ Editors Call NJ LNG Exports Biden’s “First Fracking Test”

Last week we told you about anti-fossil fuel zealots (including THE Delaware Riverkeeper) attempting to convince the incoming Biden administration to block the now fully permitted and authorized LNG export terminal New Fortress plans to build on the New Jersey shore of the Delaware River in Gibbstown (see Antis Hope to Convince Biden Admin to Block Dela. River LNG Exports). That story appeared in the Washington Post. Apparently, the editors of the Wall Street Journal read the Post because yesterday the WSJ ran an editorial touting the NJ LNG export facility as “Biden’s first fracking test.” The editorial essentially echoed the Post article.

NRDC Gears Up to Fight NJ LNG Export Facility, PennEast Pipe

Big Green (Democrat) organizations are feeling full of themselves following the Biden/Harris election and winning control of the Senate. They’re making some pretty big boasts of what they’ll demand from Biden and Chuck Schumer. Demands like no new pipelines, ban natural gas everywhere, force all new cars to be electric, yada yada yada. One of the worst of the worst of the Big Green groups is the radical National Resources Defense Council (NRDC). In a blog post yesterday, the New York chapter of the NRDC lays out its 2021 plans that include their intent to try and block the construction of the New Jersey LNG export facility and block construction of the PennEast Pipeline in Pennsylvania.

Antis Hope to Convince Biden Admin to Block Dela. River LNG Exports

Anti-fossil fuel zealots including THE Delaware Riverkeeper are attempting to convince the Biden administration to block the now fully permitted and authorized LNG export terminal New Fortress plans to build on the New Jersey shore of the Delaware River in Gibbstown. They’re hoping they can appeal to Biden’s parochial concerns for his home state of Delaware, hoping to scare an old man with dementia into blocking LNG ships from transiting the Delaware River by lying about safety issues.

NJ Gov. Murphy Flip-Flops, Wants to Block Dela. River LNG Terminal

The five voting members of the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) met in early December and voted 4-0 (one abstention) to approve a 1,300-foot-long pier in Gibbstown, NJ which will be used to load LNG tankers (see DRBC Does Right Thing, Approves NJ LNG Export Terminal). One of the “yes” votes was from New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy. Following withering criticism from radical environmentalists, Murphy has flip-flopped and now says he opposes the LNG export terminal–after he voted in favor of building it.

DRBC Does Right Thing, Approves NJ LNG Export Terminal

Miracles never cease! The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) met yesterday and voted to approve a 1,300-foot-long pier in Gibbstown, NJ to load LNG tankers. Reaction by anti-fossil fuel zealots was swift, predictable, and hilarious. They’re claiming loading LNG onto ships is somehow more dangerous than the old DuPont dynamite factory that used to exist at the same location. They’re also calling the leftist Democrat governors of PA, NJ and DE “climate deniers.” Too funny!

Fortress Truck/Rail Terminal on Dela. River to Export LPG in 2021

We’ve written plenty about a plan by New Fortress Energy to build an LNG liquefaction plant in Bradford County, PA (northeastern part of the state), and then haul the LNG from the plant via specially-outfitted trucks and rail cars to a transloading dock/port facility New Fortress plans to build at an old DuPont dynamite factory site in New Jersey, on the banks of the Delaware River. What we didn’t know, until now, is that the old DuPont site will also function as a transloading facility for LPG, or liquefied petroleum gas (i.e. propane).

NJ LNG Export Terminal Pits Green Politics vs. Established Law

There is a battle underway by Big Green groups in Pennsylvania to unduly influence, pressure, and bully a quasi-governmental agency, the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC), into overturning a legally permitted LNG export facility planned for the New Jersey shore of the Delaware River by New Fortress Energy (NFE).

Philippines Taps New Fortress for LNG Infrastructure, Power Plants

We think we’ve spotted a potential new export market for northeastern Pennsylvania natural gas. New Fortress Energy (NFE) issued a joint announcement yesterday with the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) to say NFE will build LNG infrastructure and new gas-fired power plants in The Philippines. The two signed a “memorandum of understanding” (MOU).

Know-Nothing Anti Tries to Scare NEPA Town into Banning LNG Trucks

It might help anti-fossil fuel radicals if they at least got a few of their facts right. Facts are typically missing from their hysterical proclamations. Case in point: An anti addressed the Ransom Township board earlier this week (Scranton, PA suburb) to try and convince the board to pass a resolution against trucks hauling LNG from traveling through the community on the way to Interstate 81. Her wild claims were false.

Claims of PA LNG by Truck & Rail as “Bombs on Wheels” Disproven

Antis continue their public relations push to try and block a northeastern PA LNG liquefaction plant in Wyalusing, PA planned by New Fortress Energy (NFE), by claiming the LNG that will be shipped from the plant to the Philadelphia area, via trucks and rail, will be rolling “bombs on wheels.” However, an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer debunks those lies.

Anti-Shale Zealots Openly Admit Strategy to Delay, Deny LNG in NJ

Last week MDN brought you the news that the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) had, once again, caved to pressure from radicalized environmental groups by suspending (for now) a permit they previously issued to allow New Fortress Energy (NFE) to build a dock in the Delaware River to load ships with LNG (see Compromised DRBC Votes 3-2 to Suspend NJ LNG Export Dock Permit). One member of the Big Green cabal trying to stop the project, the New Jersey Sierra Club, openly admits their strategy is to first delay, then build up opposition with a propaganda effort, and in the end, defeat any and all new fossil fuel projects, like the NFE LNG facility.
