ODNR Temporarily Shuts Down 4 Injection Wells in Athens County

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

The Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources (ODNR) has “temporarily” suspended the operations of four fracking waste injection wells in Athens County. ODNR says the wells present an “imminent danger” to health and the environment. One of the wells, owned by Reliable Enterprises LLC, is located in Rome Township. The other three are owned by K&H Partners and located in Torch.

Freeport LNG Feedgas Drops to Zero, Indicates Ongoing Outage

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

Two days ago, the natural gas (feedgas) flowing to the Freeport LNG export facility on Quintana Island, TX, had dropped to roughly 31% of its potential capacity (see Feedgas to Freeport LNG Dropped Last Weekend, Down 69% Yesterday). Yesterday, feedgas flows to Freeport dropped all the way to zero. A company spokesperson declined to comment on the situation.

Lefties Say Columbia Virginia Reliability Pipe Project is Racist

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

In August 2022, Columbia Gas Transmission (a subsidiary of TC Energy) filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to build the Virginia Reliability Project (VRP), which includes two new compressor units and the replacement of existing pipeline (see Columbia Files w/FERC to Replace 48 Miles of Pipe in Southeast Va.). VRP will add 100 MMcf/d of incremental capacity on Columbia’s system to service delivery points in southeast Virginia, namely Virginia Natural Gas. In April of this year, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a draft Environmental Impact State (dEIS) that finds the project won’t hurt Mom Nature (see Columbia Virginia Reliability Pipe Project Gets Favorable dEIS). Like mind-numbed robots, the radical left continues to spout nonsense that VRP is racist.

Maine Cement Plant Closing Because Gas Pipeline was Canceled

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

Actions have consequences. Environuts, like the lefties in Maine, seem to forget that. In early 2021, Summit Natural Gas of Maine, a regional utility company, announced plans to extend its service territory into Maine’s Midcoast region with a $90 million pipeline project (see Summit Natural Gas of Maine Plans Small $90M Pipe in Midcoast). The company’s expansion into Knox and Waldo Counties would bring natural gas to residential and commercial customers, like the Dragon Cement plant in Thomaston, and to the communities along the Route 1 corridor. After the announcement, environuts raised such a fuss that Summit surrendered without a fight and canceled the project (see Environuts Cause Summit to Cancel $90M Pipe Project in Maine). Dragon says because of the canceled pipe, it will now close the plant, devastating Thomaston with lost jobs and lost tax revenues. Consequences.

U.S. Grabs Top Spot as LNG Exporter Worldwide First Half of 2023

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

The United States exported more liquefied natural gas (LNG) than any other country in the first half of 2023, displacing both Australia and Qatar, which previously rotated in holding the top spot. The U.S. exported 11.6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) during 1H23, up 4% (0.5 Bcf/d) from 1H22. Australia was #2 in 1H23, exporting 10.6 Bcf/d. Qatar was #3 with 10.4 Bcf/d.

Sempra Sells 42% of $13B Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 to KKR

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

Earlier this year, Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sempra, announced it had reached a positive final investment decision (FID) for the development, construction, and operation of the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project in Jefferson County, Texas (see Port Arthur LNG Pulls Trigger on FID, Tells Builder to Start Work). Sempra worked out all of the remaining financial aspects of the deal, including the sale of a non-controlling piece of the project to investment firm KKR and forming a joint venture with ConocoPhillips. Yesterday, Sempra announced it had closed on the deal with KKR.

NYU Caves to Brainwashed Kids, Pledges to Divest Fossil Fuels

    September 13, 2023September 13, 2023

Another great American university has fallen to the forces of radical left Communism–New York University (NYU). Rich kids with no purpose in life other than to navel gaze and worry about the latest Taylor Swift video have found a new purpose: try to get the old farts in the board rooms at their school to divest from fossil fuel stocks. Not because it actually makes sense or would improve anything–but just to see if they can do it. Fortunately, 99% of colleges and universities have decided against divestment. Back in 2016, NYU and Cambridge University told the brainwashed kids to buzz off (see NYU, Cambridge U Reject Calls to Divest from Fossil Fuel Stocks). What a difference seven years makes.
