Enverus US Rig Count Leaps Up 13, Marcellus Rigs Up by 4

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

The Enverus U.S. rig count rose by 13 to 336 over the past week, after having slid backward the week before (see Rig Count Slides Backward by 3, Marcellus Lost 2 Rigs Last Week). The best news? The Marcellus region gained four active rigs, two in the dry gas northeast region, and two in the wet gas southwest region. The Ohio Utica Shale maintained its seven active rigs.

Group of Radicalized Ohio State Students Protest…Electricity

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

A small group of radicalized, spoiled rotten children held a protest yesterday on the Columbus campus of Ohio State University to protest…electricity. That is, they “demanded” (spoiled children always demand, ever notice that?) that OSU not build a clean-burning, Utica gas-fired electric plant. Ahh, kids, how will you get the electricity to recharge your iPhones so you can take self-absorbed selfies and post them on Instagram?

Fed Court: Weymouth Compressor Can Keep State Permit

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, located in Massachusetts, has ruled that Enbridge, builder of the Weymouth compressor station, can keep a previously-issued state permit for the station, a permit that allows it to operate. This is the final humiliation and defeat of rabid anti-fossil fuelers who dedicated themselves to blocking the plant.

Philippines Taps New Fortress for LNG Infrastructure, Power Plants

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

We think we’ve spotted a potential new export market for northeastern Pennsylvania natural gas. New Fortress Energy (NFE) issued a joint announcement yesterday with the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) to say NFE will build LNG infrastructure and new gas-fired power plants in The Philippines. The two signed a “memorandum of understanding” (MOU).

Diversified Gas & Oil a “Top Pick” Due to Low Costs, Big Dividends

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

Diversified Gas & Oil (DGO) is a fascinating company (see our DGO stories here). DGO’s strategy is to seek wells in “the long tail.” That is, wells already drilled with production along the decline curve. We spotted a post that describes how the company keeps producing a profit, even when prices are low.

After $0.22 Drop Two Days Ago, NatGas Price Up $0.14 Yesterday

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

LNG was the main reason for the huge drop in natural gas prices two days ago (see Sunken Barge in LA Helps Fuel $0.22 One-Day Drop in NatGas Price), and now LNG is the main reason those prices recovered much of what they lost, just one day later. Hop aboard the new dance craze called the LNG yo-yo!

Brief Update on COVID-19 Diagnosis & Progress

    October 16, 2020October 16, 2020

A huge “thank you” for the hundreds and hundreds of well wishes and prayers for my wife and myself following our COVID-19 diagnosis. I am completely humbled and moved by your kind words of encouragement. I’m happy to report we have both turned a corner. This disease is long and tough and at least for us, there is no quick resolution. We still have coughs, periodic fever, etc., but the symptoms are lessening. We feel better. I suspect it will be at least another week before we will see the end of our symptoms…
