Propaganda “Report” by Left-Wing IEEFA Says MVP Not Needed
Masquerading as a nonpartisan, independent nonprofit, the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) reportedly “conducts research and analyses on financial and economic issues related to energy and the environment.” The Institute’s stated mission is “to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable and profitable energy economy.” In other words, they’re anti-fossil fuel, populated by biased Democrats with a vested interest in seeing Big Oil and Big Gas bankrupted. It’s no surprise the IEEFA just released a “report” saying the financial rationale for building the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) has “evaporated” and, you know, Equitrans (the builder) should just forget about finishing the project and write off the billions already spent.

We are so sick of the left and their twisted view of everything! The left claims every time a pipeline runs near or through an area where the population is African American, or Hispanic, or rural poor (in other words, just about everywhere), that pipeline is automatically assumed to be racist.

Two weeks ago MDN brought you the news that Summit Natural Gas of Maine, a regional utility company, announced plans to extend their service territory into Maine’s Midcoast region with a $90 million pipeline project (see 
Apparently, the staff who run the day-to-day business of the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) is incompetent and can’t defend itself. Every time they are challenged in court, they run crying to mommy and daddy (Teresa Heinz Kerry at the Heinz Endowments and Shawn McCaney at the William Penn Foundation), which in turns launders money (i.e. hires lawyers) through the Delaware Riverkeeper to help bail the DRBC out of legal trouble. A federal judge (appointed by swamp-dweller George W. Bush) ruled last week to allow Riverkeeper (Heinz & Wm. Penn) to “intervene” (become a party to) a lawsuit launched by Pennsylvania Senate Republicans against the DRBC over the organization’s illegal taking of property rights by banning fracking in the river basin.
On Friday Pennsylvania state legislators held two different remote/video hearings about the future of energy and fossil fuels in the state. Radical leftists who have taken over the Democrat Party are alarmed that the House Democratic Caucus, which lists climate change as a top priority, dedicated more than half of a two-hour hearing on “21st Century Energy Jobs” to speakers extolling the virtues of natural gas and coal. In our new woke, cancel culture where free speech is dead and any idea that doesn’t agree with the left is verboten, this just isn’t acceptable (so say the wokers)!
It’s kind of hard to consider the City of Pittsburgh as the “energy capital of the Northeast” when its mayor and now its namesake institution of higher learning are both virulent anti-fossil fuelers. University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) trustees on Friday agreed to continue phasing out fossil fuel investments in the school’s $4.3 billion endowment and become completely divested from fossil fuels by 2035 (14 years from now). That’s not fast enough for the petulant, childish kids whose parents pay their steep tuition bills at Pitt. The spoiled kids want the university to divest NOW, darnit (feet stomping on the floor)…
The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC), a quasi-governmental organization composed of four states (NY, PA, DE, NJ) plus the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, voted yesterday to permanently ban fracking within the boundaries of the DRBC’s jurisdiction, which includes Wayne and Pike counties in Pennsylvania where there is abundant Marcellus Shale deposits. But don’t despair. The DRBC is in the midst of two legal challenges and one (or both) is sure to win, reversing the illegal action taken yesterday. Chin up! The sun will rise again.
Remember the statement, uttered by then-candidate Joe Biden as he stood in Bucks County, PA (which sits in the Delaware River Basin) when he emphatically promised PA residents and union workers, “I’m not banning fracking in Pennsylvania or anywhere else!”? It took him slightly less than five weeks to break that promise. Yesterday the Biden administration, in the form of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (which is an Executive Branch agency) abstained and then voiced moral support for the DRBC’s vote to ban fracking in the Delaware River Basin. That action bans fracking in two northeastern PA counties where there are frackable shale deposits (see today’s lead story). FIVE WEEKS. Still happy you voted for lyin’ Biden?
A massive bait and switch has happened, and dumbed-down Americans are falling for it. Once upon a time, the scaremongers in the environmental movement claimed the earth (due to mankind’s influence) was entering an Ice Age with global cooling. Then about 25 years ago Al Gore got on his high horse and became the prophet of doom for man-made global warming, making the claim the internal combustion engine was the worst thing ever to be invented (what a dope). The theory is that a buildup of carbon dioxide (which comes from your mouth every time you exhale, also comes from burning fossil fuels) is creating a big canopy around the earth, trapping heat and making temperatures rise. Except it isn’t actually happening, so the environmentalists changed the terminology from global warming to “climate change” and now claim every “extreme” weather event is the fault of climate change and caused by…yep, mankind.

There’s nothing like changing the rules of the game after the game is done and over. Sounds like something a petulant child would do, but in this case the petulant child is the Democrat-controlled Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) potentially rewriting rules (after the game was played) in an attempt to shut down a brand new, state-of-the-art, fully functional compressor station that’s delivering 133 MMcf/d (million cubic feet per day) of extra natural gas supply to New England and beyond. Newly appointed Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Richard “Dick” Glick continues to wreak havoc on the natural gas pipeline sector. Since he was first appointed by Donald Trump more than three years ago, Democrat Glick has voted against every new pipeline project to come before him. Now he wants to rewrite the rules so future FERC commissioners will be handcuffed, binding them to a policy that requires them to reject new pipeline projects long after Glick has exited stage left.
It really is frightening how stupid some of our nation’s leaders really are. They don’t even understand basic economics 101 (they likely never took the class in college). Example: U.S. Sen. Tina Smith from Minnesota (Democrat) who wants federal regulators to investigate the recent spike in natural gas prices, which soared to record levels–into the hundreds of dollars per Mcf. Smith apparently doesn’t understand simple economics and the law of supply and demand.
