PA Drillers Say Biden’s Climate Goals ‘Unrealistic’ w/o Gas

    April 23, 2021April 23, 2021

Yesterday our illustrious president, Joe Biden, shot off his mouth announcing plans to cut so-called greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in the next 10 years while creating millions of “good-paying, union jobs.” It’s an anti-fossil fuel pig in a poke. Biden announced his latest brainstorm during a “climate summit” with some 40 other world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. We’re pretty sure both Xi Jinping and Putin were snickering at the prospect of America committing energy suicide, something they have no intention of doing.

Chester Co DA Bullies Mariner East Pipe into Signing Consent Order

    April 23, 2021April 23, 2021

The Chester County, PA District Attorney, Democrat Deb Ryan, has pressured and bullied Energy Transfer (ET) and its Sunoco Pipeline subsidiary into signing a “consent decree” that guarantees if ET spills one cup of drilling mud or creates any kind of “public nuisance” in finishing up work on the Mariner East pipeline, the DA gets to haul the company into county court and charge it with a crime. The consent decree means in addition to the state Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) breathing down their necks, ET now gets a second master (AG Ryan) breathing down their necks too. Joy.

Cabot Interviews U.S. House Whip Scalise re Energy Independence

    April 23, 2021April 23, 2021

Cabot Oil & Gas hosts a series of in-person and virtual events called Think About Energy (TAE). Since the pandemic, the events have been all virtual (webinars). Earlier this week another virtual TAE event was hosted by Cabot executive director of public relations (and MDN friend), George Stark. George had an interesting discussion with Congressman Fred Keller, Republican from Synder County, PA, and U.S. House Whip Steve Scalise, Republican from Louisiana. The topic? American energy independence and the importance of shale energy to our country’s future.

    Enverus Rig Count @ 530 (-11); Marcellus @ 35 (+3), Utica @ 14 (+1)

    April 23, 2021April 23, 2021

After four months of steady increases in the U.S. rig count, last week (the week ending April 21) the Enverus U.S. rig count “took a step back” with a decrease in the count. It was the first time this year the count has dropped. Oil rigs fell steeply to 404, down 15 for the week, while natural gas-oriented rigs gained four to 126. The Permian oil-focused play was the biggest loser, dropping five rigs last week.

Happy Earth Day! MDN Debunks Global Warming Using Actual Temp Data

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

Happy Earth Day! Yes, we are in favor of being good stewards of the planet God gave to mankind to watch over and protect–every plant, animal, and even other humans. Let’s celebrate this wonderful creation today (and the Creator Who made it). Unfortunately, today you will hear the phrase “climate change” about a bazillion times. We detest that phrase. What they really mean to say, in plain English, is “man-made, catastrophic global warming.” Today we tackle the issue of global warming and whether or not mankind’s activity of burning fossil fuels contributes to it, which is the underlying assumption in the phrase “climate change.” We use real, actual temperature data that we believe will open your eyes and hopefully open your mind and your heart on the issue of global warming.

M-U Drillers Keep Spending Flat & Rig Counts Steady in 2021

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

Analysts with S&P Global Market Intelligence say that shale gas drillers in the Marcellus/Utica region have finally learned their lesson and are sticking to their promise to keep capital spending restrained this year–even with an increase in the price of gas. Both spending and rig counts are predicted to stay low this year as drillers work on boosting free cash flow and improving company share price.

PA Approves Another $4.4M in Grants for Local NatGas Pipelines

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

Pennsylvania’s Pipeline Investment Program (or PIPE) issues grants covering part of the cost for building new natural gas pipelines to connect homes and businesses, typically in rural parts of the state, to homegrown Marcellus Shale gas supplies. We’ve written about many of the PIPE grant projects in the past (see our PIPE stories here). Five more PIPE grants totaling $4.4 million have just been awarded–in Adams, Indiana, Lebanon, Lycoming, and Northampton counties. That makes 35 total PIPE grants thus far.

Antis Try to Block CT Gas-Fired Power Plant by Bullying Banks

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

Not content to rely on politicians alone like the weak-willed Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, radical anti-fossil fuel zealots recently visited a number of banks located in New Haven, CT, to pressure and bully bank management into divesting from energy projects that contribute to “greenhouse gas pollution.” In particular, the zealots want to defund a critically-needed gas-fired power plant in Killingly, CT.

Warning: NY Democrats Plan to Hike Cost of NatGas 26% w/New Tax

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

For those of us unfortunate enough to live in New York State, we’re already screwed with a corrupt governor large and still in charge (even though his actions led to thousands of COVID deaths in nursing homes and even though he’s a sexual predator). The screwing (pun intended) continues. There are bills in both the NY Assembly and Senate that aim to increase the tax on gasoline in the state by $0.55 per gallon! In addition, the bills would increase the tax on natural gas that end users pay–those who use it to heat and cook with, residences and businesses–by an extra 26%!! Translation: Move out of NY while you still can sell your house. And don’t forget to turn the lights off when you leave.

NY DEC Releases Plan to Kill Off What’s Left of Oil & Gas Industry

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

It’s now obvious to even the dullest person that Andrew Cuomo and his completely corrupted Dept. of Environmental Conservation has one mission in mind with respect to the state’s oil and gas industry: Kill it. It began when Cuomo first placed a moratorium, later a permanent ban on hydraulic fracturing in the state (see Cuomo PERMANENTLY Bans NY Fracking in Now-Adopted Budget). The assault on New York O&G continues with an announcement yesterday by DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos (a Rockefeller stooge) that the DEC will soon release regulations to “reduce methane emissions from oil and natural gas sector.”

EQT Annual Meeting: ESG Top Priority for Board & Management

    April 22, 2021April 22, 2021

EQT Corporation, the nation’s largest natural gas producer (focused 100% on the Marcellus/Utica), held its annual meeting yesterday. This meeting had a lot less drama than the meeting in 2019, just two years ago, when brothers Toby and Derek Rice successfully took over the company (see Rice Bros. Win Proxy War to Control EQT – Toby Rice New CEO). Last year’s annual meeting was held virtually. So was the meeting yesterday. The main topic was the company’s newfound ESG religion. Gimme that ESG religion…

Co. Pleads Guilty, Fined $2M for Marcellus Truck Emissions Scam

    April 21, 2021April 21, 2021

In September 2018, MDN brought you the news that six men had been charged with conspiring to illegally alter emissions systems on 30+ trucks with heavy-duty diesel engines, trucks used to haul water and wastewater to and from Marcellus Shale wells (see 6 Charged with Bypassing Emissions Controls on Marcellus Trucks). All six eventually pleaded guilty (see Man Pleads Guilty to Bypassing Emissions Controls on Marc. Trucks). The company involved in the scandal, Rockwater, has now pleaded guilty and will pay a $2 million fine.

Constraints “Loom” re Flowing M-U Gas to the Midwest, Canada

    April 21, 2021April 21, 2021

Pipelines are necessary and critical to move supplies of natural gas (and oil) from where the product is extracted to where it’s needed. In the case of Marcellus/Utica natural gas, there is demand from four primary markets outside the northeast–Eastern Canada, the Midwest, the Gulf Coast, and the Southeast. There are six major interstate pipelines that flow our gas to the Midwest and Canadian markets. Combined, these six pipelines make up a little over 40% of the total northeast takeaway capacity for M-U gas (18.2 Bcf/d). The big question is, are we heading for full capacity and looming constraints on pipelines heading to these two important markets?

NRDC Radicals Pressure Biden Admin to Axe Permits for 92% Done MVP

    April 21, 2021April 21, 2021

Anti-fossil fuel zealots are certainly persistent in their holy mission to destroy the use of all fossil fuels. None more so than the extremists at the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC). The NRDC rounded up a group of 60 equally radicalized groups and sent a joint letter to a bunch of sympathetic radicals working in the Biden administration (Sec. of Interior, EPA Administrator, Sec. of Agriculture, among others) encouraging them to shut down a multi-billion natural gas pipeline that is 92% built and in the ground: Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP).

    Protester hanging from a crane

Yet another out-of-state anti-fossil fuel protester, from Michigan, has been arrested for blocking work at a Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) construction site. The 27-year-old woman (completely brainwashed) climbed up and chained herself to a construction crane in Giles County, Va. She trespassed at the site and caused a four-hour delay for work crews. She should pay the cost of their salaries and the equipment rental for those lost four hours.
