Penn State Spending $750K to Research Cow Burps
The Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research is spending $750,000 in precious grant money, giving it to Penn State University Distinguished Professor of Dairy Nutrition Alexander Hristov to see if he can figure out how to make cows burp less. When cows burp, they burp methane, like fire-breathing dragons do. That methane (called enteric methane) escapes, like a fugitive, into the atmosphere where supposedly it toasts Mom Earth into a cinder. No, we’re not joking. That’s what the left believes. Some nonprofit is spending three-quarters of a MILLION dollars to try and figure out how to make cows burp less. It would be funny if not so tragic.

It’s really sad, and sick, and twisted to watch what’s happening after University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) researchers released three deeply flawed “studies” that don’t prove anything (see
It will be lights-out in Times Square if New York insists on forcing peaker plants to close in 2025. That’s according to Rich Dewey, president and CEO of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), the nonprofit that oversees the state’s electricity system. Dewey has warned the state for YEARS of coming blackouts if peaker plants in New York City are forced to close in 2025. NY Dems, who irrationally hate fossil energy, are forcing the closure of NYC’s peakers, believing unreliable renewables and a big, fat power line from Canada will be enough to keep the lights on. Good luck with that.
This is so frustrating. Last week, the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) issued fake research reports that supposedly link proximity to shale wells with a minuscule (less than one-tenth of one percent) rise in one type of childhood cancer (see
Last week we told you about a new $2 billion hydrogen project coming to West Virginia (see
On August 17, the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) posted an Interim Final Environmental Justice Policy to guide DEP’s permit application reviews and outreach efforts in environmental justice areas throughout the Commonwealth. New Environmental Justice (or EJ) policies are a euphemism for regulations that prohibit drilling and pipelines built in neighborhoods of color or economic hardship zones because, says the left, those people can’t fight them. It is a uniquely dystopian and prejudiced view of the world. We call it “all shale drilling is racist” regulations. Completely repugnant. The DEP will publish their new anti-shale regs in the Pennsylvania Bulletin on September 16 and immediately implement them on the same day. Meaning the DEP will begin to slow or deny new permits for wells and pipelines as of that date–based on violating made-up EJ standards. We hope the Marcellus industry sues the DEP to stop it.
In 2018, Pennsylvania’s then-Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, assembled a grand jury to “investigate” Marcellus drillers. He lied to them for over two years and eventually got them to indict a number of Marcellus companies on trumped-up charges. The so-called grand jury issued a report (which was actually authored by Shapiro and his minions) in June 2020 (see
Three weeks ago, MDN told you about the small community of Douglas, Massachusetts, that had outsmarted Big Green by getting Eversource to build a one-mile pipeline extension into Douglas to feed a mammoth new warehouse project (see
A group of 28 House Democrats asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to deny a request from the developers of the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) to extend the project 75 miles into North Carolina, called MVP Southgate, arguing in a letter this week that Southgate’s construction would pose serious climate and environmental risks to affected states. Typical. Why do so many Democrats irrationally hate fossil energy?
In April, the U.S. Supreme Court breathed new life into a long-running lawsuit funded by Big Green groups using (abusing) a small group of uppity Virginia landowners who argue the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) had no right to delegate authority to Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) to use eminent domain to cross land, including the land owned by the small group of uppity landowners in Virginia (see
And so the end-game, the true insanity, begins. A group of brainwashed children (who are being mentally abused and used by adults, in our humble opinion) won a court case in Montana this week that says Montana state agencies are violating their constitutional right to a clean and healthful environment by allowing fossil fuel development. Yup. No more fossil fuel development in Big Sky Country unless you first obsequiously bow down and worship the GOD of Climate Change first, and pinky-swear promise you won’t emit any carbon dioxide or methane if you drill an oil or gas well. The decision came from an idiot judge who made his ruling while exhaling CO2 (violating his own edict). The judge finds that CO2 is evil. It’s burning up the earth. The new religion of Climate Change was just instituted by judicial fiat for all of Montana. (This would all be hilarious if not so tragic.)
No wonder our children are spaced out on anti-anxiety meds like Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, and Ativan. They are force-fed (brainwashed) with global warming hysteria in schools all day long. The media convinces their unthinking parents to believe the lie too. The narrative in schools and on the airways says if we don’t stop producing so much carbon dioxide (and fugitive methane) right now, TODAY, we’re all history. Mankind will kill itself in about 20 years by making the Earth unlivable. If you drive a gasoline car or use natural gas for heat and cooking, you’re killing Mom Earth. Many people who believe the lie have given up hope that there is a future. “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die.” That’s the very old-but-made-new-again philosophy. Predictably, many are becoming unhinged, and some are even violent. Leftists are now concerned that maybe they’ve gone a bit too far with all of this “end of the world” stuff, and they’re beginning to walk it back.
Looks like the three Democrat judges of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit (4th Circuit) value their own jobs more than defeating the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project. On Friday, the three-judge panel that has opposed MVP in just about every decision they’ve issued since 2018 dismissed the remaining two cases against MVP after being overruled by the U.S. Supreme Court two weeks ago (see
Even though the radicalized left has been defeated in their attempts to block the 303-mile Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project, they won’t go quietly (they never do). The liars of the left are trying to plant seeds of fear and doubt in the residents of West Virginia and Virginia that as soon as the remaining 6% of MVP pipe is buried in the ground and begins to flow, a piece of that newly installed pipeline will blow up because the pipe has been sitting above ground for years and the special epoxy coating that prevents corrosion has degraded by sitting in the sun. Yet another lie from the left.
