PennFuture Report Prods PA DCED to Divest from Fossil Energy
The radicals at the tax-exempt (extremely partisan) PennFuture organization have arrogantly proffered a report with policy recommendations for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), lecturing DCED on how it should “reshape the Commonwealth’s strategic collaborations” with public and private partners. And what does this reshaping look like? Defund any efforts that benefit the oil and gas industry in the state (responsible for billions in revenue and hundreds of thousands of jobs) and instead invest in “clean energy” (unreliable wind and solar) and “energy efficiency” (tell PA citizens to turn the thermostat up in the summer, down in the winter, while trying to convince them they love it).

Last Friday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced that applications are open for $850 million in federal funding “for projects that will help monitor, measure, quantify and reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas sectors as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.” The funding, to be taken from the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), aims to force small operators to significantly reduce methane emissions from oil and natural gas operations. Essentially, it is a massive bribe to vote for Biden in November. Companies that get in on the gravy train will vote for (and donate to) the Democrat Party. That’s how it works in the disgusting swamp called D.C.
Last week, we told you about a modern-day Paul Revere, a Republican Senator from Massachusetts who single-handedly blocked a horrible bill that empowers state regulators to “terminate [natural gas] service to consumers so long as they have access to ‘safe, reliable, and affordable alternatives’” (see
In 2019, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) began formulating new regulations for intrastate pipelines transporting gasoline, petroleum, crude oil, and natural gas liquids like ethane. In July 2021, the PUC finally published a draft of new regulations (see
Danskammer Energy, which operates a gas-fired peaker power plant along the Hudson River in Newburgh, NY, has been working on a project to upgrade the plant since 2018 — seven years. On Monday, Danskammer Energy withdrew its permit application with the fossil fuel-hostile state, formally ending attempts to expand after years of trying. It’s time to throw in the towel in NY State and let the idiots who keep the Dems in power sit in the dark.
For those (like the dunce who heads up the Dept. of Energy, Jennifer Granholm) who say Uncle Joe’s “pause” on authorizing new LNG export requests isn’t having an impact, how do you respond to this?… Russia has overtaken the United States as the top exporter of natural gas to Europe. Why? Because the Europeans are scared to death they will run out of natgas promised by the U.S. Biden’s pause on new export authorizations has Europe scrambling to ensure their citizens don’t freeze to death next winter.
President Joementia Biden’s regulators recently finalized a flood of major energy and environmental rules in hopes they’ll stick when Donald Trump returns to the White House next January. A sort of “burn the ships” strategy. Bidenistas embedded across the D.C. swamp hustled to complete sweeping new regulations in recent months — including everything from a high-stakes power plant rule to a policy governing the conservation of public lands. When Trump came to power in 2016, he used something called the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to reverse such policies put in place by the Obamadroids. The Bidenistas think they have bullet-proofed their regulations against the use of the CRA.
One month ago, MDN told you that although the New York Senate had passed a bill already passed by the Assembly to ban the use of carbon dioxide in shale drilling (so-called “CO2 fracking”), Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, a reliable anti-fossil fueler, had still not signed the bill into law (see
In early March, President Joe Biden nominated three new candidates to become Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) commissioners (see
Yesterday, MDN brought you the great news that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) had given permission to Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) late Tuesday to begin service along the 303-mile natural gas pipeline from northern West Virginia to southern Virginia (see
Only in the dysfunctional Josh Shapiro administration. Yesterday, the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced it had added a Customer Experience Management Advisory Council (CXMAC) to advise the DEP’s Acting Secretary and so-called Chief Customer Experience Officer on strategies and improvements to enhance service delivery to the public. The thing is, none of the board members are actual customers of the DEP! There are no oil and gas members on the board. There are no members of the public on the board. Only well-connected people from private businesses, non-profit organizations, and (worst of the worst) other government agencies landed a spot on the board. Some people actually think PA Gov. Josh Shapiro is presidential material. What a joke!
Wonder of wonders. Yesterday, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) granted its permission for the 303-mile Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) to begin flowing natural gas. YES!!!! We are elated! Finally, nine years after MVP filed for permission to build, the pipeline is now (or soon will be) flowing Marcellus/Utica gas to the Southern U.S. This is a great day for all of the Marcellus/Utica.
A once-respected oil and gas consultancy has become a petty partisan purveyor of pap. We’re referring to Wood Mackenzie, the “global insight business for renewables, energy and natural resources.” In a recently released report, WoodMac analysts make this partisan statement: “A Republican victory in 2024 could roll back decarbonisation policies and usher in a delayed energy transition for the US.” The not-so-subtle implication is that if you care about the planet and the mythical “energy transition” that must take place (or else)…you’ll vote Democrat in November. What a huge, stinking pile of B.S. WoodMac has become as corrupted and unreliable as the International Energy Agency (IEA) with its pronouncements of doom and gloom to the planet if we don’t ban fossil energy now. Shame on WoodMac for becoming partisan hacks.
