Maryland Antis Oppose Tiny New Pipeline in Eastern Shore
Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company (ESNG), a subsidiary company of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (a company fascinated with chicken poop), filed a request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Sept. 2018 to build 19+ miles of new pipeline and new meter and delivery stations in Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware, and Wicomico and Somerset counties in Maryland, to carry more natural gas to locations in Delaware and Maryland. FERC approved the project last December (see FERC Approves Del-Mar Energy Pathway Pipe Project). You would not believe the irrational opposition to this (frankly) insignificant project.

In February MDN told you about an effort by the radicalized Sierra Club to block a New York landfill from accepting drill cuttings from the Pennsylvania Marcellus (see
We include this story on MDN because (a) it’s Friday and sometimes we get a little giddy and have fun on Fridays, and (b) to illustrate the lengths crazies will go to reduce the amount of “fugitive methane” that “escapes” into the atmosphere. Agriculture (farm animals) produce huge amounts of fugitive methane–a fact that the climate loons grudgingly have to deal with if they want to keep up the false pretense that the planet is catastrophically warming. So every now and again the crazies come out with truly insane plans to capture, or in this case restrict, the amount of methane cows fart and burp. Penn State is all proud of itself that it has determined the optimum “dosing” of a really big antacid tablet for Bessie…
The National Whistleblower Center (NWC), a partisan (Democrat) nonprofit group, last December launched what it calls a “Climate Corruption Campaign” to “enlist whistleblowers in the fight against fraud and other crimes in the three industry sectors responsible for the vast majority of the world’s carbon pollution: oil and gas, coal, and industrial logging” (see
This absolutely must stop. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is completely out of control and abusing his power as AG. He has charged a third Marcellus/Utica company, National Fuel Gas Company, with crimes because of a few minor cases of erosion runoff during the installation of a pipeline in Washington County, PA. Since when is erosion a CRIME?
Each day New York State becomes more like a third world, tinhorn dictatorship. High and Supreme Lord Andrew Cuomo (governor and dictator of NY) has issued edicts to *permanently* ban all fracking in the state. The suckup legislature dutifully obliged (see
Pennsylvania’s hard-left Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, is doubling down on the fraudulent so-called grand jury report that bashes the state’s Marcellus Shale industry. Yesterday afternoon Shapiro spoke on a webinar sponsored by leftist fringe group PennEnvironment. Shapiro once again lied about fracking chemical transparency and threatened he will indict more shale companies. Shapiro is off the reservation and out of control.
A number of far-left anti-fossil fuel (nutty) organizations aren’t getting any traction. Nobody listens to them. So they’ve banded together to form a new umbrella organization called ReImagine Appalachia. In other words, they’ve put lipstick on an anti-fossil fuel pig, hoping they can now, finally, get someone to pay attention to them. Ain’t gonna happen.
The devious minds at THE Delaware Riverkeeper are working in overdrive. In an apparent concession that their lawsuits to try and stop the New Fortress Energy LNG liquefaction facility from getting built in Wyalusing (in northeastern PA) by stopping the construction of a new dock New Fortress wants to build on the Delaware River, Riverkeeper is changing strategies. If they can’t stop the facility and they can’t stop construction of the loading dock (in Gibbstown, NJ), Riverkeeper hopes to convince towns between Wyalusing and Gibbstown to pass zoning ordinances forbidding the transport, via truck or rail car, of LNG through their communities.
The Philadelphia Inquirer published a story today that is (surprise!) totally one-sided and biased. The story has the provocative title of, “‘Dark money’ groups spent $517,000 against two Philly-area candidates who oppose the Mariner East pipeline.” Oooohhh. It’s dark money and sinister and it was used against two virtuous, pure-as-the-wind-driven-snow Democrat candidates in primaries. Completely absent from the story is any reference to Big Green dark money that was poured into those same races (see
The wackos at the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) have convinced, bullied and coopted 14 far-left-leaning states plus the District of Columbia to sign a “memorandum of understanding” (MOU) that pledges their states will force tractor-trailers, buses and other large and medium-sized vehicles to be all-electric by 2050–in thirty short years. It’s crackers. It’s cuckoo. It’s not even possible! And it will never happen. But just the threat is enough to inflict economic harm and hardship on working-class folks. We’d even call the NRDC MOU racist.
Multi-billionaire Warren Buffett (with more money than God) is a darling of the Democrat left because he’s a Democrat and often $upports leftist causes. Buffett has even praised crazy Bernie Sanders for championing the little guy. Yet Buffett isn’t ready to give up capitalism the way most of the rest of his party advocates. When it comes to investing and making money, Buffett is betting big on fossil fuels. Less than two weeks ago Buffett finalized a deal to buy all of Dominion Energy’s natural gas pipeline business, including major assets in the Marcellus/Utica (see
Joe Biden, reading like a robot from a teleprompter with no live audience and taking no questions from reporters (to guard against exposing his advancing dementia), yesterday introduced a $2 trillion so-called climate plan. Part of Biden’s plan, no doubt concocted by the likes of Alexandria Occasional-Cortex (AOC), calls for using the jackboots of the federal government to force all states to abandon all electric power generation from sources that produce “carbon” by 2035. That, dear readers, includes eliminating all natural gas-fired power plants and coal-fired power plants, which today produce two-thirds of all electricity produced in the U.S.A.
Last week we brought you the rumor that a bill to allow incentives for petrochemical plants willing to build new facilities in Pennsylvania (generating hundreds of jobs and hundreds of millions of investment in the state) appears to be back on after the bill was vetoed by Gov. Tom Wolf earlier this year (see
