Radicals Using MVP Case to Void Eminent Domain for All Pipelines
In 2019 a group of Virginia landowners filed a lawsuit against the Equitrans Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project, because they didn’t like how the pipeline left a mark across their horse pastures. The landowners arrogantly argued Congress improperly delegated its legislative powers to FERC and that ALL pipeline approvals made by FERC that have led to property being “taken” against a landowner’s wishes, including MVP, should be invalidated. In May 2020 a federal court dismissed the case (see Lawsuit Seeking to Gut FERC Eminent Domain for MVP has Failed). Using money from Big Green groups (who are funded by foreign countries like Russia and China), the uppity landowners appealed once again and, unfortunately, the case remains active and live, now in a higher court.

Yesterday MDN told you that New York City was pointing the gun of economic suicide at its own head, ready to pull the trigger by outlawing the use of natural gas in all new buildings throughout the city (see
While some Biden officials are bashing the U.S. domestic oil and natural gas industry, blaming them for not drilling more to ease prices, other Biden officials, like the haughty John Kerry, continue to pressure Big Banks to deny funding for oil and gas companies, which prevents them from doing more drilling. Does anyone else see the hypocrisy and contradictions in the actions of the dysfunctional Biden administration?
Hey men (and those who “identify” as men), when was the last time you checked your sperm count? Quick! Check it asap! A new study says a substantial drop in sperm counts and fertility rates over the past 50 years “could be” linked to pollution from the (gasp) burning of fossil fuels. That’s right. Burn those nasty fossil fuels and what do you get? Low sperm counts. So says…The Onion? Comedy Central? Jerry Seinfeld? Nope. So says a “study” published in the journal Nature.
The electrical system that powers the United States is made up of individual power grids that connect with each other. Different regions have their own “grid of grids” (called a regional transmission organization, or RTO) that operates to manage the flow of electricity across the entire grid to ensure reliability. In New England, the grid operator/RTO is ISO New England (ISO standing for Independent System Operator). Gordon van Welie, CEO of ISO New England, recently had some startling and stark words about the reliability for New England’s electric grid: Get ready for rolling blackouts.
According to Robert Bradley, Jr. from the Institute for Energy Research (IER), the Biden Administration’s Build Back Better (BBB) plan is at odds with affordable, reliable energy. The so-called “largest effort to combat climate change in American history” is a bribe-and-bully program to systemically substitute inferior energies for consumer-chosen, taxpayer-neutral ones. The Biden plan is an assault on the free market system and doomed to abject failure.
A long-fought-over wastewater injection well in Plum Boro (Allegheny County, Pittsburgh suburb) finally opened for business earlier this year, having overcome all sorts of smears and slanders and lawsuits by the enviro-left (see
Far-left Democrat and so-called civil rights “leader” Rev. William Barber II “preached” to a crowd of fellow lefties on Saturday. The topic of the reverend’s sermon? The evil, racist Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP). We bet you didn’t know that MVP is “an abusive sin,” did you? Yeah, it’s right there in Revelation. That’s what Rev. Barber told his audience. That evil ole’ snaking pipeline will “harm the poor” and people of color. The rally was arranged ahead of this week’s Virginia State Water Control Board vote (on Tuesday) to allow MVP to cross minor creeks and swamps in the state.
The hypocrisy of Joe Biden and his administration continues. Biden has repeatedly begged Saudi Arabia and OPEC+ to increase oil production, while at the same time shutting down pipeline projects and disallowing new leases and drilling on public lands here at home. He then blames our domestic producers for not ramping up production! Here’s the latest: The Biden administration has *ordered* U.S. government agencies to *immediately* stop financing new “carbon-tensive fossil fuel projects” overseas and instead begin to push unreliable so-called renewable technology, like Chinese-manufactured solar and wind technology.
An issue we’ve written about over the years is the problem of some (certainly not all) so-called climate activists (those who believe in man-made global warming) tipping over from being boisterous and loud and making silly asses of themselves into something more: becoming violent. Thankfully such violent/terroristic episodes have been few and far between. But something is changing. Some leaders of the modern environmental left are beginning to advocate for violence–like blowing up pipelines. They justify their calls for terrorism as somehow heroic or necessary to save the planet.
Even though U.S. LNG exports help the U.S. by providing more jobs and economic prosperity, and even though U.S. LNG exports help the world by providing a green alternative to coal and other forms of environmentally destructive fuels, some Democrats continue to bash away at natural gas and are actively trying to kill the industry in our country. Legislation introduced Dec. 7 by Representative Jan Schakowsky (Democrat-Illinois), and Nanette Diaz Barragán (Democrat-California), would bar the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) from approving new LNG terminals.
The odious leftists from the so-called Food & Water Watch (Big Green group, funded with foreign money) continue to pressure, cajole, woo, and hoodwink local municipalities in New Jersey to oppose building a new dock on the Delaware River–a dock that would allow LNG cargo carriers to come alongside and load up with yummy, safe, clean-burning LNG. The latest victim of FWW’s lies is Trenton, New Jersey.
Last Thursday CNX Resources reached a plea deal with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office over alleged violations of the Air Pollution Control Act and bad recordkeeping. Yeah, you read that right. State Attorney General Josh Shapiro (a real putz) leveled criminal charges against CNX over miscounting how many times the company used a pig (pipeline inspection gauge) to clean out a pipeline in Washington County, PA. An anti-fossil fuel zealot who lives near the pigging station complained about noise and emissions and ran squealing to the AG (pun intended).
A group of anti-fossil fuel zealots, with support from a clueless reporter at the Boston Globe, are targeting a tiny “peaker” gas-fired electric power generating plant in Peabody, Massachusetts (a suburb of Boston). The small 55-megawatt peaker would provide electricity only on the heaviest demand days for short periods of time. It would be powered by clean-burning natural gas. Yet the crazies are out in force protesting this $85 million project. Why? Because it will contribute, so say the crazies, to global warming. What dunces.
