Zombie Antis Fight to Block Williams NESE Pipeline in NY, NJ

    April 6, 2026April 6, 2026

Anti-fossil fuel fanatics haven’t given up on trying to block construction of the Williams Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) pipeline, a $1 billion+ project designed to increase Transco pipeline capacity and flows of Marcellus gas heading into New York City and other northeastern markets. Last November, the states of New York and New Jersey issued federal Clean Water Act permits for their respective states, allowing NESE to be built (see Trump Won: New York & New Jersey Issue Water Permits for NESE Pipe). Antis sued both the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the environmental agencies of NY and NJ (see Radicals Sue NY, NJ to Block NESE Pipeline Water Permits). Antis are now trying to persuade the new radical governor of NJ, Mikie Sherrill, to deny permits that allow construction to begin in her state. Va. Utility Cos. Will Pass Cost of RGGI Carbon Tax on to Ratepayers

    April 6, 2026April 6, 2026

Virginia is officially rejoining the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) carbon tax scheme this July after a liberal court deemed its previous withdrawal under former Governor Glenn Youngkin unlawful. This reentry forces utilities like Dominion Energy to resume purchasing carbon credits—modern-day indulgences for the “sin” of emitting carbon dioxide, the same thing mammals exhale with every breath. The cost will be passed on to ratepayers through monthly bill increases. Virginians have no one to blame but themselves when their electric bills soar due to this idiotic carbon tax that does nothing more than allow politicians to pass out money to their favorite constituent groups as a reward for voting them into office. Welcome to the USSR of Virginia. Read More “Va. Utility Cos. Will Pass Cost of RGGI Carbon Tax on to Ratepayers”

Potential PA Data Center Boom: $12B Output, 19.4K Jobs by 2036

    April 6, 2026April 6, 2026

A study by the Pittsburgh Technology Council and Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies projects that Pennsylvania’s data center expansion will generate $12 billion in annual economic output and nearly 20,000 jobs by 2036. With a forecasted 4,000% increase in data center construction, the commonwealth is leveraging its status as a leading energy exporter and its $29 billion manufacturing sector to support global cloud infrastructure. By integrating robust natural gas and nuclear resources with data development, Pennsylvania is positioning itself as a leader in the AI economy. That is, IF antis don’t blow the opportunity by blocking new data centers (see PA Democrats Go Local with Opposition to $92B in Data Center Deals). Mainstream Media Catches Up: AI Data Centers are the New Fracking

    April 6, 2026April 6, 2026

Please excuse our immodesty while we toot our own horn. MDN first tipped you back in July 2025 that the Democrat anti-fracking movement in Pennsylvania (and beyond) was rapidly becoming anti-data center (see PA Antis Hate Fossil Fuels, Shale Drilling, and Now…Data Centers). The trend only blossomed, with national and international groups joining the chorus against data centers. Here we are in April 2026, some nine months later, and the mainstream media, via the venerable Financial Times of London, has just noticed this fact and published an article that reaches the same conclusion. Big Green Files Lawsuit to Block FERC Authorization of MVP Southgate

    April 2, 2026April 2, 2026

On Tuesday, seven radicalized Big Green groups filed a court challenge to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) authorization for Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC, to construct the MVP Southgate gas pipeline. The petition for review, filed by the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC), Appalachian Mountain Advocates, and Sierra Club in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (DC Circuit), asks the court to vacate the amended certificate of convenience and public necessity issued by FERC in December 2025. FERC Issues DEIS for Boardwalk Pipe to Carry M-U Gas to Southeast

    April 2, 2026April 2, 2026

The Kosciusko Junction Pipeline Project, led by Gulf South Pipeline Company, LLC (a subsidiary of Boardwalk Pipelines), involves the construction of approximately 110 miles of 36-inch natural gas pipeline. The project has an estimated cost of $1 billion and is supported by a 20-year agreement with an anchor customer. It is designed to transport up to 1.16 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) initially, with the potential to expand to 1.58 Bcf/d. The pipeline aims to connect gas supplies from key basins, including the Marcellus/Utica, Haynesville, and Fayetteville, to power markets in the Southeastern United States. In December 2024, Boardwalk pulled the trigger and made a final investment decision (FID) to move forward with the Kosciusko Junction project (see Boardwalk FID on Pipe to Carry M-U, Haynesville Gas to Southeast). Yesterday, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a positive Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the project. Celebrating 10 Yrs Since First Ethane Export from Marcus Hook, PA

    April 2, 2026April 2, 2026
The INEOS Intrepid received a fireboat parade when it arrived with its cargo of Marcus Hook ethane in Norway 10 years ago.

A decade ago, the INEOS Intrepid departed from Energy Transfer’s Marcus Hook Terminal, marking the first transatlantic shipment of ethane to Europe. This milestone resolved a critical surplus issue in the Marcellus and Utica shale formations, where excess ethane had previously hindered natural gas production. By establishing global export routes through ET’s Mariner NGL pipelines, ET revitalized the U.S. natural gas industry and improved domestic market reliability for various fuel products. Today, ethane remains vital for producing essential plastics, and the company is currently expanding its chilling capacity to further bolster international distribution capabilities. PA Democrats Go Local with Opposition to $92B in Data Center Deals

    April 2, 2026April 2, 2026

Anti-progress and anti-fossil energy Democrats in Pennsylvania are doing their darndest to try to block new AI data centers from getting built in the state. Just last week, the Democrat-controlled House passed a bill to block new data centers (see PA House Dems Pass Bill Aimed at Banning New Data Centers). However, even the most hardened radicals in the Democrat Party, such as State Senator Katie Muth (from the Philly suburbs), who have been pushing a “three-year moratorium” on building new data centers, admit the state legislature is unlikely to pass any of these hairbrained bills in both chambers. So they’ve changed tactics, taking the fight local, town by town, to block new data centers. Read More “PA Democrats Go Local with Opposition to $92B in Data Center Deals”

Duke Energy Considers 2 New Large Gas-Fired Power Plants in NC

    April 1, 2026July 28, 2026

In January, MDN broke the news that Duke Energy is considering constructing a 1,360-megawatt natural gas power plant on 1,600 acres in Davidson County, North Carolina (see Duke Energy Considers 1,360-MW Gas Plant for Davidson County, NC). We were tipped off by the environmental left, which had discovered a transmission cluster study in Duke’s 2025 Carolinas Resource Plan that referenced the potential project. Antis peppered local officials with questions, which, in turn, put pressure on Duke to publicly confirm its interest. Except….Duke is interested in building *two* new 1,360-MW power plants. And there’s a second potential location for one or both of the plants. Read More “Duke Energy Considers 2 New Large Gas-Fired Power Plants in NC”

    April 1, 2026April 1, 2026

The Rockwood Area School District in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, has been awarded a $570,084 state grant to extend natural gas service to its facilities. The project will install around 15,100 feet of natural gas pipeline. Announced by State Representative Carl Walker Metzgar and Senator Pat Stefano (both Republicans), the funding comes from the Pipeline Investment Program (PIPE). The project is designed to replace the district’s current heating system (an old coal-fired boiler), effectively resolving the environmental issues caused by coal burning.
